Update 3/25/19: US Bank sent out an email apologizing for the mistake (ht reader Alex):
U.S. Bank is committed to providing excellent customer service to our cardmembers. We want to ensure you are aware of an error that occurred with a recent email you received. You were sent a promotional email for your U.S. Bank Altitude™ Reserve Visa Infinite® Card which incorrectly stated that you recently earned an enrollment bonus. This email was sent in error. We appreciate your business and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any questions, please contact our Altitude VIP Cardmember Service line at 844.357.2015.
Original Post:
U.S. Bank has sent out e-mails to a number of existing Altitude Reserve cardholders informing them that they have spent enough to earn the 50,000 point sign up bonus. The problem is that in some cases people have had this card for more than a year and earned the sign up bonus a long time ago. In other cases people have newly signed up for the card and haven’t even spent enough to trigger the sign up bonus. Obviously this e-mail has been sent out in error, for those that have already received the bonus it’s likely not a big deal but I can see some people that haven’t spent enough getting caught out as they would assume that enough had been sent due to this e-mail being sent out. We’ve reached out to U.S. bank for comment and have yet to receive a reply.

They will not honor this due to mistake, In process of closing all of my credit cards with them.
Weird flex, but ok.
Close all your cards over an email! bruh

I got a retention offer last year for about 10k points IIRC and used that to offset the AF.
let the annual fee post, then use all your new cardmember year’s travel credit, then close
Does that mean trying to use the new 325 credit in the same statement that has the annual fee?
I got my bonus 6 days ago, so the email that I received today looked timely enough.
That stopped clock is correct twice a day. USBank is definitely the stopped clock bank.
How is this news? Emails are getting send out in error all the time, nobody has received the bonus, and they will most likely send out another email within the next few days acknowledging their mistake.
Because some people might mistakenly receive the e-mail and think they have reached the minimum spend requirement?

…Citi…? That you…?
I got the email this morning. My card is almost a year old and i was planning on cancelling it. My statement cuts off in about a week so will see if it shows up on this one. my annual fee comes up in 2 statements. I did get the bonus. but there was an issue where they first would not give it to me. but after several calls and emails they gave me the 50000 point bonus as an adjustment.
wow, how did you get this. I also got the email and was short of the spending to receive my bonus. I thought that I was going to get the bonus and stopped spending and then they refused to give me the bonus. I sent letters, called, complained and they adamantly refused to give me the bonus.
how did you get the bonus? Funny I even had 10K in the bank with them too.
I got this card two years ago and of course earned sign-up bonus. I definitely have no objection to getting this bonus again. Let’s hope they will honor it.
Lol in your dream. I think it’s cheap and disgraceful to even think about that. On the other hand, us bank does have the worst public communication department. Errors like this should be corrected by a follow up email in one hour.
You should join their customer community panel. Its where US Bank asks us how to phrase those emails so they re not confusing. So much fun it should be illegal.
they should not honor it, nor should it be expected.
OK, US Bank IT developer guy
Only poor people should feel bound by honor, don’t you know.
Lmao
Hola!, US Bank IT. Promise I did not send this out 🙂
I bet none of their IT people have proper CompTIA certifications
