American Express Platinum Cards Typo Showing $0 Annual Fee In Paperwork

Many are reporting seeing a $0 annual fee showing in the physical card disclosures that come with various American Express cards: Platinum, Schwab Platinum, Business Platinum. This is happening with many recent applications and has apparently been happening for a number of months as well.

To be clear, on the application the fee was properly disclosed, it’s just in the paperwork coming with the card that there’s an apparent typo with “None” for the annual fee.

People have been getting charged the fee, despite the paperwork. Some report that in the past this type of thing has been honored, but for now at least the fee charges are coming through regularly.

Got a mail from amex saying there was an error on their end and they sent a new card member agreement along.

Anyone receive a update from their “backend” team on the annual fee?

Not Plat, but I haven’t been charged the $95 annual fee on my amex EDP. DM’d yesterday, they said the annual fee date was 3/25, but showed $0 AF. I have upgraded/downgraded this card every year for the bonus for several years. I do vaguely remember the paperwork saying $0 AF when I upgraded last year, but I did still pay the pro-rated AF for 2024.

honeypot to see who calls in and asks for $0 AF, that would be evil

Wouldn’t asking for the $0 AF for an obvious mistake also be “wrong”?

I chatted with Amex last night about 0 fees and they have created a backend case for me and told me to chat back in 5-7 business days. It’s a waiting game to see the outcome. Not hopefully, but playing along at the moment.

Would be funny if they did this on purpose just to entice all the Chase Sapphire holders to make the jump.
