Many were having issues with getting certain travel charges reimbursed for the Amex Platinum and PRG travel reimbursement benefit. In the past some gift card purchases worked to get the statement credit but in September many were not getting reimbursed. We reported that this turned out to just be a temporary issue and going forward everything is back to normal.
While we now are back to normal, an issue still remained with the purchases made in the ‘Amex Dead Zone’ when Amex was not reimbursing these charges; you can’t contact Amex about charges which don’t fall into the T&C of being able to get reimbursed.
The good news is now rolling in from many sources that all those old charges are now being reimbursed.
Some people had given up on those and went ahead with making other purchases in order to get the reimbursement benefit. Be sure to check and see if you got the reimbursement before doing so.
