Amazon first launched Amazon Allowance in June, 2015 allowing Amazon users to give other Amazon users a once off or recurring ‘allowance’. When it was first launched it was useful as the minimum recurring allowance you could give was $0.50, this meant it was a way to generate debit or credit card transactions (debit card transactions are often needed for rewards checking accounts). Unfortunately that was short lived as Amazon increased the minimum to $5 in August of 2015. Amazon has now announced that the Amazon Allowance program will be discontinued on July 30th, 2020.
Hat tip to reader Jonathan S
I have no credit card. The way I purchased crap on Amazon was that I worked on chores for money at my dad’s each weekend, then requested funds to be applied to my Amazon gift card balance. I am an individual with autism and can’t manage finances yet I saved up enough to order the high end headphones, the skullcandy crusher and now I can’t order them. If I was CEO of Amazon and some damn idiot suggested discontinuing Amazon allowance, I’d fire them. The actions that the company took made me even more angry than before. How about I list the multiple problems that I’ve had with Amazon services.
1. I had to create multiple accounts because the one time passwords were crashing
2. The Amazon fire TV stick is a nightmare to use.
3. The live chat customer service is a dumb robot instead of connecting you to a human.
What other autoload are there? This completely mess up the couple of balance rewards cards I have. 🙁
This,
https://www.amazon.com/asv/autoreload
but it’s min $5 and only good for 1 card. I’ve used it for TAB to do 15*$5 in 15 days.
Thanks!
I set up 9 sock-drawer cards a few months ago. The first month I set it up, one card was charged 9 times, and I had to spend some time with customer service to fix the problem. I can see why they canceled the service. It was probably not a money maker, or used for its intended purpose much. The charity idea would probably work but I don’t want to impose setting up 9 cards on a charity I like.
What other autoload for $5 is there? Anything?
Can usually set up regular charity donations starting at $1, just contact the charity first to ensure their costs aren’t more than $1 per donation.
Does DoC accept donations thru PayPal? I would not mind donating a dollar a month to DoC to keep a CC active.
We don’t sorry
Do you have a list?
Good question, can we start a list of active subscriptions that are worth for its money or auto load like amazon allowances?

Was just about to add a couple of newly-sock drawered cards to this too. Ah well.
