August 11th, 2015 new benefits were added to both the personal & business cards and the annual fee was increased to $95 on both cards. Below is a list of all the benefits each card currently offers.

  • Earn 1x points on all other purchases

Our Verdict

This is the best bonus ever on the SPG card. The standard bonus is usually 25,000 points and normally goes up to 30,000 once per year. If you’ve never had either card, then I’d definitely sign up for this card – although it could go higher if American Express wants to up their number of cardholders before any Marriott/SPG merger. I’d also recommend reading these things you should know about American Express credit cards.

One of them is about American Express matching sign up bonuses, if you applied for one of these cards recently with a lower sign up bonus then American Express won’t usually match you, but they will sometimes give you courtesy points. Share your experiences in the comments below.

Update: The referral links also include the new 35,000 point sign up bonus. Please don’t share them here, we will set up another post and you can share them there instead.

Can I apply for a Amex SPG Business card if I already have the personal card?

Yes, that’s what I’m going to be doing. As long as you’ve never had the biz version according to the wording.

Link does not work, showing error message

DoC, screenshot says $5k spend. Also the link isn’t working at the moment

Copy this pages address and then paste it incognito/private browsing, both show up for me.

What is the points worth?

i opened this card in january. how is Amex w.r.t. matching offers?

Thanks so much for posting!! Just applied and was approved – been wanting to get this card since it might go away with the merger. 35K is the best I’ve ever seen. It’s also great they provide the credit card number upon approval.

Are there any refer a friend promos going on? Assuming no since you didn’t mention it. Thanks.

Referral link for business SPG card for 35k points: link removed.
Would greatly appreciate if my referral can be used

Mod edit: Read the post and don’t just mindlessly share your referral link where ever you want.

The 4 credit cards limit is still there or not?
I have 4 credit cards now.

Sorry, just noticed your update about referral links to be in a separate post. Please remove the above comment and link

Any chances for asking the 5000 points if already applied last year

I just tried to get a match to the 35k offer over live chat (after being approved for the 25k offer about 60 days ago). The rep didn’t give me anything. Said something to the effect of the points are determined by the marketing department and that they are only involved with customer service. Anyone have better luck over the phone?

Anyone tried to refer your friends?
My wife opened my referral link and only found 25k point offer, even though I am sure the offer should be 35k according to my “refer-a-friend” page.
