Our Verdict

This offer isn’t showing on all accounts; I found it on around 25% of my accounts. Remember to go through a shopping portal when making a purchase. If you are someone who buys electronics regularly, it could make sense to buy a $250 Adorama gift card and lock in the discount for the future.

  • Sounds like it might not work at AdoramaPix (Adorama's answer to Shutterfly, offering custom cards, books, calendars, etc, using your photos), only Adorama proper? They're co-owned (I can use my Adorama login at AdoramaPix), but it's a different website than the one the Amex Offer mentions.

  • I bought a nice camera there a year ago. Problem I think is that we must weigh this $25 off with price protect potentials. In my case I got $70 back through Citi Price Rewind. Buying a gift card or paying with an Amex foregoes such protection, so the $25 incentive may not be worthwhile.

    • If they aren’t yet they soon will. Supreme Court ruling in June was directly aimed at companies like b&h, Adorama Wayfair and the like.

Newegg is charging sales tax now.

  • Thanks Doc! I didn't think of a gift card - that would've been better than what I've done. Bought a lens yesterday for a bit over $500, and had them split the order into two charges (via chat) so I got a bit over $250 on each card - used both of my AmEx offers at once. Had to do it while on a chat, so didn't get cachback from a portal. Buying two gift cards and then going through a portal would've been a slightly better play.
