Bank of America has sent out a letter to reddit user buildingcredit informing them that their Bank of America Alaska Business card has been closed due to ‘excessive account closings and openings to accumulate bonus miles under the Alaska Airlines business card program. This was their third Alaska business card, their personal account is still in tact and they also use Bank of America as their primary bank. Currently the Bank of America Alaska business card is offering 40,000 miles + $200 statement credit.

Been a long time coming. This is why the rest of us has to suffer with tighter control, because of obvious abusers like these. It’s called moderation. Opening the same card every time the previous SUB “cooldown” is finished is so obviously gaming that a toddler can figure it out. Having 2 already is questionable, but having 3+ wouldn’t cause sus?

Ahhh…yes… racking up B of A of Alaska points… 2013 – 2017 were fine times …
I counted 13 Alaska personal CCs, + a few AS Biz CCs + at least 4 Hawaiian CCs + a couple Virgin Atlantic CCs I churned before the “clamp down” on churning started in 2017/2018…
those were the days… I never got the shut down… with B of A
BUT I pulled out and focused on the grAAvy train after that… and got slammed by the dragnet in Dec 2019… lost 3M+ disAAdvantaged miles… ouch!
I don’t get the point. They already gave out the welcome bonus, so why not let the person use the card?
I think in this case they hadn’t received the welcome bonus on that third card, I might be wrong though.

Yup. They closed both of my Alaskan credit cards and one of my Business Cash cards. I can’t even use my companion certificate now.
Just applied for the Alaskan biz card and was met with an instant denial. Am I blacklisted?

WoW…this is crazy! I was recently denied the Alaska Visa personal because letter said:
‘You have, or recently have had, a sufficient number of accounts with us and/or our affiliates
Too many accounts were recently opened’
I have a BofA checking account.
That’s crazy they would put it in the denial letter. How many BofA cards have you opened?
I applied earlier this morning for the biz card and was denied; maybe that was a good thing?
