For some time Barclaycard has had the following language on their credit card applications (bolding mine):
- This offer is available only to applicants who are residents of the United States, with the exception of Iowa, and the US territories
This is likely due to the ICCA (Iowa Consumer Credit Code). Reddit user apostatesauce points on that language is now not showing on some co-branded application pages. Unfortunately it still does apply to the Barclaycard Arrival Plus and other Barclaycard branded cards. Let’s take a look at the cards that do and don’t have this limitation.
Open To Iowans
- AAdvantage Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard
- All JetBlue Cards
- Frontier Airlines World MasterCard
- Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard
- Wyndham Rewards Visa
- Choice Privileges Visa Signature® Card
- L.L.Bean Visa Card
- RCI Elite Rewards MasterCard
- Barclaycard Ring MasterCard
- Commence Mastercard
- Barclaycard Visa with Apple Rewards
- Diamond Resorts International MasterCard
- Princess Cruises Rewards Visa
- Holland America Line Rewards Visa Card
- Priceline Rewards Visa Card
- Carnival World MasterCard
- Barnes & Noble Mastercard
Not Open To Iowans
- Barclaycard Arrival
- Barclaycard Arrival+
- Miles & More World Elite MasterCard
- Barclaycard CashForward World Mastercard
- NFL Extra Points Credit Card
Finally! Hopefully they’ll allow Arrival+ as it appears to be the only one I see worth doing. Luckily many years ago I lived out of state and used the Sallie Mae for years until they killed it.
I do love DOC’s comprehensive coverage though, on a topic that affects maybe 1% of the US population.
Yeah useful for most readers but for Iowans pretty big deal
I mean, they still don’t allow the A+. But they never took away my Upromise when I moved here.
That’s a gratuitous apostrophe in the title there
Fixed for you
Odd, both my wife and I applied and were approved for Aviator Red cards back in December. Never even knew there was a restriction.
Are Barclaycard Rewards cards and Cash Forward available?
CashForward, no. Not sure about the reards card, got a link?
I think Rewards is downgrade-only card. I product changed my Arrival+ to it last March, but it does not seem to be available for new signups.
Strange. I applied directly for Barclay Rewards from the website about two years ago. I see a few in the wild and I dont know why Barclay would kill a popular product.
