Best Buy is turning 50, and to celebrate they’ll have a 50-hour sale. Sale starts tonight at 10 PM central time and continues until midnight on August 20th. Nearly all sales will be the same both in-store and online.
The first Best Buy store opened in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Aug. 22, 1966; at the time, it was called Sound of Music. The name changed to Best Buy in 1983.

Seems like Best Buy got jealous of Amazon’s Prime Day; we’ll see if they manage to generate some excitement with this sale. Clearly, they didn’t hype it up in advance the way Amazon did with Prime Day.
