Paypal also has 5% cb (via PP points reward) on Best Buy, can stack with 5x Freedom (using Paypal) and portal cb. This is the second time the Best Buy 5% cb has been offered on my PP account, used one during black friday.
Tempted by this offer, it is an excellent price plus the stacking.
From the previous purchase you mention (if you have not done this deal today), do you see the 5% rewards in Paypal pending now despite not clicking through from within Paypal? On my Paypal mobile app when I click on the 5% BB offer, I see an “activating 5% cash back…” screen very closely resembling a “normal” portal that tracks through site cookies, and then I am redirected to bestbuy.com within the Paypal app browser. This seemingly functions identical to any other shopping portal I’ve used, where the transaction needs to be completed within the new browser page. But I do understand Paypal is unique in that you can select it as a payment method from bestbuy.com while checking out- so I am wondering if just the act of saving the 5% offer to your Paypal account and selecting PP Checkout can be proven to trigger the offer, regardless of the tracking cookies or how you got to bestbuy.com. Confirmation that you can see the pending rewards in Paypal without having clicked-through via the Paypal app would be extremely helpful.
What other (non-Paypal) cashback portal are you looking at for this deal? All cashback portals for Best Buy that I can find have explicit exceptions for Apple products.
Related to #1 above, I wonder if the value of the Paypal 5% cash back is based on the item subtotal or the actual amount paid via Paypal. If the Paypal cashback worked like a traditional shopping portal, then the subtotal $499 would generate $24.95 in Paypal, even if say a gift card were used during checkout. Since the click-through from the Paypal app takes you to a standard bestbuy.com web page, this would be possible. You could buy a discounted gift card elsewhere for all but $0.01 of the total and pay the $0.01 with PP Checkout just to ensure that method of payment is triggered. If the cash back were based only on the portion paid via PP Checkout (which would be in Paypal’s best interest), then applying a gift card for all but $0.01 and paying the $0.01 with Paypal would not be beneficial. This second scenario of only counting the portion paid with PP Checkout towards cash back may be more likely if it can be proven that the offer is triggered simply by using PP Checkout, regardless of clicking through from the Paypal app- and therefore not operating like other traditional portals

Didnt know what you can stack CB with Paypal offer. You opened the website via browser instead from PP directly I presumed?
PP rewards is separate from the Chase Freedom 5x and Cb portal.
So go through cb portal, choose PP on checkout, and pick Freedom card. That’s the triple stack.
