Our Verdict

These $15 codes expire and can’t typically be sold. Not the greatest deal, but a lot of people find these useful for reselling or personal use. You’ll also earn Best Buy Rewards with the purchase if you input your Rewards number at checkout on Cashstar.

Use your Ink Preferred card to earn 3x at Best Buy. I recently learned that you can buy a single $450 gift card and get three $15 savings codes. (It shows clearly for me at checkout as being eligible for three $15 codes.)

  • Just learned that a Promo code has to be used all at once - if you have anything left over, you lose it. Even within the range of dates the codes are valid. It's not like a gift card where what's left over can be used later.

    • Hmm, that doesn't sound right, every indication I've had is that it functions like an ordinary gc. Maybe try again? I could be wrong, of course.

      • Both Best Buy and CashStar say to call each other. Each claims the same thing, that they can only see the total amount purchased, not what a particular promo code was used for. Dealing with both companies is frustrating, as the people act polite, but aren't that interested in helping solve the problem. I really feel like Best Buy would rather have the last few dollars for themselves, as it's really not worth all the phone calls back and forth. I had the same experience with a bad Best Buy gift card that I didn't buy from Best Buy (card number didn't match the package number activated), no one at Best Buy wanted to make it right.

  • Purchased two of these two weeks ago and haven't received the promo codes yet. CashStar said they'll look into it, even though they admit their records show they never sent them. Hope they do something before March 31.

  • Bought one $450 - never received the bonus codes today. I've been transferred to several different people and can't find anyone that can help. Would probably not purchase this way again.

    • Really! I wonder if there are other DPs out there of this? Quite disappointing, but not unexpected with all the bonus cat loopholes going away these days.

  • Saw the note about earning 3x UR by using an Ink Preferred. Followed the link, but don't see a mention of the CIP, only ATT Access More. Am I missing something?

    • Look up 'Cashstar' and you'll see it. Anyway, sounds like this no longer works. I'll update Payments Workshop.

  • DP: $15 savings code from this promotion was provided via e-mail on 2/18/18 and worked in store 2/19/18

  • if bestbuy cancels your order on something ordered on the savings code does the savings code go back to your saving code card and would be valid until its expiration or once its done its finished and wont come back to your card unlike a bb gc which the money does come back bec t and c seem to indicate that you have one chance only that would mean not to risk it and use the savings code in store

  • Anyone have any experience with Coupon Cactus as a CB portal? Looks like they offer 1% for Cashstar but can't find any discussion of them that I trust.
