Bitmo now supports Paypal Payment for Select Users with a 3% Fee

Reader David got an email from Bitmo stating that select users can now use Paypal payment. There is a 3% fee that shows up when you do so.

Bitmo is an app which sells gift cards, and they often run terrific site-wide discounts on gift cards which we post about here. The big downside of Bitmo was always that they only allowed payment with a bank account which some people didn’t like for security concerns or simply for lack of credit card rewards.

Given the 3% fee, a lot of people may prefer the bank option, but some people might be willing to pay the fee, depending on how you value your points, especially given the added security of having your credit card company and Paypal guaranteeing the purchase.

Within the last 12 months, you shared valuable feedback about Bitmo’s payment methods. We took your concerns to heart and are proud to announce we’ve introduced PayPal to select users in anticipation of a platform-wide release.

Doesn’t the PayPal TOS prevent charging more for use of PayPal than other methods offered by the merchant?

It’s definitely illegal, but they are small enough they can get away with it.

That’s not really what illegal means though
