The Offer
- Capital One is offering transfer bonuses to Aeromexico and British Airways. The offers are as follows:
- Aeromexico: 20% transfer bonus (1:1.2) until August 8th
- British Airways: 33% transfer bonus (1:1) from August 1st at 12:00 AM ET to August 31st
Our Verdict
The 1:1 rate for British Airways will be popular as normally it’s 3:2. Capital One has steadily been improving their rewards points and part of that is regularly offering these transfer bonuses.
Is anyone else having trouble trying to actually transfer to BA? I get a general system error every time I try to make a transfer.
Yes, I’m having trouble as well. Tried a couple times on 8/1/21, got email saying “Your miles transfer to Executive Club didn’t go through”, and “something went wrong”. Was hoping the problem would be fixed by now, so tried again today (8/8) – same error. Guess I’m going to have to deal with their tech support – ugh.
SAME! I spent an hour on the phone this morning with Capital 1. They transferred me to multiple different departments. Finally, they confirmed that there does seem to be an issue- that it is occurring on their end and has nothing to do with my Cap1 account or BA account and they should have it resolved within a few hours. I tried again about 8 hours later and still isn’t working :/
Still no luck with the transfer…. I sent a DM over Twitter. They suggested that rather than transferring 62k points into my BA account for a business class ticket, I instead purchase one for $5k using my card and then apply my points to the purchase. LOL
It finally worked for me this morning (Capital One -> BA transfer), transfer time was almost instantaneous.
Really?? I still can’t get it to work. Called Capital one back and still zero help. Now they are telling me to make sure I am typing my BA account number in correctly (eye roll)
Yes – my transfer was a smaller one (6K), but other than that I can’t think of anything that might explain why mine went through and yours hasn’t. Hope you can get it to work!
Any surefire way (eg preapproved) of getting capital one points cards?
Cap One to BA is normally 4:3 not 3:2…(2:1.5 x 2 is 4:3)
