Chase Checking Customers can now Buy Digital Gift Cards in their Online Account

Chase announced today a new feature for Chase checking account customers to be able to send digital gift cards directly to any email address. You can send gift cards of more than 60 top retailers, including Starbucks, Sephora, Panera, Home Depot and more. This feature is available in your online Chase login as well as in the Chase mobile app.

You can even schedule a gift for the future and you can add a short message. Available denominations are $5 – $100.

Any Chase customer with a consumer checking account can send digital gift cards to a recipient in the US. Chase will keep improving digital gifting throughout the year.

The funds will be pulled from your checking account and won’t earn credit card rewards. I’d recommend against using this new Chase feature; instead, buy your gift cards from a retailer who accepts credit cards which makes it possible to earn rewards on the purchase.

Overall, this isn’t really interesting at all for actual use, but it’s a bit interesting that Chase is getting into the gift card sales business.
