Why You Shouldn’t Bother With These Deals
Because instead of doing these deals, you could sign up for a maximum bonus of $500 ($300 from checking & $200 from savings). I’m kind of surprised that Chase didn’t have a public page up on this sooner, since they are now offering affiliate links for these same bonuses and they are always live.
Doc,
Do you know if Chase has publicly posted these coupons online in the past? Do you think this move may be a sign they are going to stop sending out $500 coupons?
Sometimes they become publicly available, usually once a year or so. No guarantee it’ll happen again though, not sure if they’ll do it again now.
Has anyone seen or heard of a $300 Chase savings bonus for parking $15k in a savings account for 90 days?? I’ve seen $200 ones offered in conjunction with the $300 checking bonus but haven’t been able to substantiate that a $300 is valid.
Thx
NOTE: the difference is that the $500 offer requires $15,000 to sit in your savings for 90 days. The $250 offer only requires $10K in your savings – for me, that is a big difference.
Recently received the $500 offer in the mail – perfect timing.
question semi related to this thread has your thread on Bank Accounts That Can Be Funded With A Credit Card been closed for replies? tried to provide an update on BBVA compass funding with a citi AA card as a purchase for $5000 but the option to update (leave a reply) is not there
Bums me out, too. I’m going out East to visit family this summer and was thinking about opening an account while I was there, but there are no branches near where I’ll be either!
We have no branches in my area in TN as well, but during a Valentines weekend in New Orleans last month, we dropped in a branch near our hotel downtown and voila, will be receiving $500 in a few month. During the same hour, my wife was pre-approved for a Sapphire Preferred even though we both wouldn’t have qualified due to the 5/24 rule. The banker was surprised I knew so much about the checking account offer and CSP and said he does the same thing – that is move money around chasing bank bonuses. All in all, made the trip that much better!!
How often can you sign up for a checking account to receive the bonus
You have to wait 90 days after closing your accounts before you can apply again and get the bonus. To keep the bonus, the accounts have to be open for 6 months, so there is really a 9 month process between opening accounts. I just applied for the $500 bonus this week after closing back in November. I was expecting an awkward moment when the banker would ask why I had just closed them a few months ago only to want to reopen them, but he didn’t say anything. Maybe they don’t see if you’ve had an account before. I went to a different branch than the first time around.
I had the same thought opening my account last week. For some of us the feeling is a little awkward with the banker staring at his screen reading about you. From the tone it suggested he could see a previous account from 2.5 years ago when I lived on the other side of the city but he didn’t flat out say or cared. He definitely noted my Chase amazon visa credit card.
Since I plan on churning this again in Feb or March next year my idea is to drink a bottle of wine or beer at home first to remove any inhibitions. Then walk over to Chase and hope a relaxed carefree attitude will make the sign-up a breeze!
They get paid a commission to open an account. They are purely salespeople. They don’t care.
You can also only get one bonus per calendar year.
