The Offer

The Fine Print
- Offer valid until October 15th, 2014, or until stocks last. Chase usually gives out a set number of coupon codes for each bonus, once they are all gone the deal will close.
- Not available to existing Chase checking customers or those whose accounts have been closed within the last 90 days, also closed to those who have closed a Chase account with a negative balance
- Direct deposit must be made within 60 days of account opening
- Bonus will be posted within 10 business days (Chase batch processes these and they are handed out on Tuesdays)
- Limit of one Chase checking bonus per calendar year
- If account is closed within six months of account opening the bonus will be deducted at closing
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Chase Premier Plus checking has a monthly fee of $25 which is waived if you meet any of the following conditions:
- Have an average daily balance of $15,000 or more in linked deposits/investments
- Set up automatic payments to your qualifying linked Chase first mortgage from your Chase account
Our Verdict
Chase Premier Plus checking requires a lot of money to be deposited with Chase to keep it fee free, unfortunately chase offers a terrible interest rate of 0.01%. Because you’d need to keep $15,000 in this account for six months before closing you’d earn $0.75 in interest. If you kept the same amount in an account with 1% interest you’d earn $75.
There are a lot better Chase deals out there, for example you can currently earn $500 by keeping the same amount in a checking + savings account. Alternatively you could earn $400 and go for an offer that doesn’t require a direct deposit.
We wouldn’t recommend that anybody signs up for this deal. As always, we keep an updated list of Chase coupons here. If you’ve already completed the Chase deal then I’d recommend looking at other checking promotions. If you’re time poor you can skip straight to the best offers here.
It’s also worth noting that if you have the Chase Freedom open having this account open will give you a 10% relationship bonus on all points earned.
