Our Verdict
The standard bonuses are 45k/$125 and both of these bonuses are nice. The Freedom bonus isn’t the best ever as it sometimes goes up to $225. Still, both are probably worth getting now if you’re on the fence for them. The Sapphire bonus hasn’t been that high in quite a while.
Of course, the main issue that most of us have is that Chase usually won’t approve you for a card if you have 5 new credit card accounts with any credit card over the past 24 months. For more details on this see Chase Credit Card Churning – Living with the New Reality.
Also note that it’s possible/likely that there will soon be available refer-a-friend links with the same bonus. If you have someone who can refer you, it may be worth holding off a little so that they’ll gain from it as well.
These offers aren’t showing directly on the Chase site, but our friends on Reddit found these links.
I used someones referral link and if someone could use mine would be much appreciated!

I got a CSP and have met its minimum spent in half the time. But now my loads to Nw buxx are being considered as cash advances since last week. I reduced the cash advance limit to minimum($100) and now the loads are failing to go through. Can you suggest an alternative to MS with this card?
anyone successfully able to get the CSP approved w/ more than 5 cards in 24months?
We signed up for the Sapphire in September. I sent Chase a secure message asking for the extra 10k points since we already hit the minimum spend and they gave them to us almost immediately! Awesome!
For those having more than 5 cards in the last 24 months, you may find a branch to see if you have an in-branch pre-qualified offer. This may help you get around Chase’s 5/24 restriction.
Would I be able to just send a secure message and find out the same info?

I checked Cardmatch and it’s showing the Chase Sapphire Preferred for me – though I’m way over the 5 new CC accounts that will supposedly mean an automatic denial for me. Any thoughts on whether it showing up in Cardmatch would mean being approved for this card?
yup, i’m in the same boat as you – and would like to know too
In June my wife was declined for the Freedom due to too many applications in a 2 year span. I called Recon and was able to escalate the call twice and finally get it approved after they were willing to exclude authorized user accounts (this left her at 3 cards opened).
Tonight I attempted to apply for the Sapphire and was declined for the same reason. I called Recon and did not have the same results. I escalated the call once after striking out with the initial rep and when I attempted to escalate again they told me they could not do that but could give me a call back within 48 hours. I did a HUCA and got the same result with the first person so I guess we’ll see how the call with the Manager goes. I will report back for those interested.
I have opened 4 cards in the past 24 months. Sept ’14, Mar ’15, Apr ’15, May ’15. 2 cards were with Chase and 2 were other banks.
Also as another data point – before opening these cards I intentionally reduced my credit limit with Chase by about $10k across a few cards to ensure that I would have credit limit available. That didn’t seem to help me get auto-approved. Thus far a very frustrating experience!
EPORTING BACK FROM MY EARLIER COMMENT:
I received a call from a Manager at Chase. I walked through my credit report together with him. I indicated that the AU cards were opened by my wife, that we manage our finances separately, and that on the application I was only including my income for consideration. He seemed to be willing to ignore the 8+ AU cards on my report. We spent about 20 minutes, he asked me about the 4 cards I had personally opened in the past 2 years, why I had opened them and what I planned to do with the new card. I was honest throughout and he then asked how much of a credit limit I was looking for. I told him that I couldn’t see myself racking up much larger than a $3,000 balance on the card. He then told me I was approved for $5,000 credit limit. Overall a VERY pleasant call and I feel pretty good about it. The key was to escalate it to the manager – the first 2 people I spoke to yesterday had NO authority to approve my application whatsoever.
Did you get some of those cards for the signup bonuses? If so, are you saying you told him that and he didn’t mind?
I told him that I opened the American Express card because I had never had one before. I opened my Chase Disney because I had an upcoming vacation to Disney and the Marriott card because business travel was allowing me to stay at Marriotts more. He didn’t specifically ask about why I opened the Citi Hilton so I didn’t have to give a reason.
The biggest victory on the call was getting them to not hold the Authorized User accounts against me that were opened in my wife’s name. THAT fact brought me under the 5 cards in 2 years rule but the first 2 levels I talked to could not ignore those cards. Once I got to the manager and explained to them that these were not my cards simply AU accounts they were able to take that out of the count.
Also – I didn’t specifically mention sign-up bonuses as why I signed up. The reasons I gave were honest reasons but I definitely left the signup bonus out of my response. That probably would not have gone over well.
Is there any way we could have SO refer to us (or we refer to them?). I tried to find but looks like there isn’t any refer a friend promotion going on for CSP. Any other workaround to this?
Any links to the CSP 60k offer for Private Clients?
Where are you a getting 55k signup bonus from? I see 55k in your post title but only 50k in your link.
Extra 5k with adding an authorized user.
