The Chase Hyatt card is one of the more popular cards on the market due to the fact it gives you two free night certificates at any Hyatt property worldwide.
There are a few variations of this bonus:
- Get two free nights + 5k points for adding an authorized user and make a purchase. This is currently the main offer that’s showing on the Chase website.
- Get two free nights + $50 after your first purchase. See this post for more details on that offer.
- Get two free nights + $50 + 5k points for adding authorized user and make a purchase. See this post for more details on that offer. DIRECT LINK
The third offer is obviously the best offer and it’s the one people in the know have been using recently.
Chase just added a new condition to this offer: “Offer only available to you if you have stayed at a Hyatt property since May 1, 2015.”
A Reddit member recently tried getting Chase to match this Hyatt offer, and he was denied because:
The offer to receive an additional $50 statement credit is for customers who either made a reservation online with Hyatt or stayed at Hyatt and received a take-one or guest receipt at the property, and then opened the Hyatt Credit Card account from Chase. If you have met either of these criteria, please provide us with the confirmation number to confirm the booking. I have confirmed with Hyatt that you have no current or future stays reserved, and therefore, do not qualify for the richer premium of $50 statement credit.
This is important to keep in mind; be sure to plan your Hyatt applications around your Hyatt stays so that you’ll be eligible for the best offer.

I just got my two cards (one for myself and one for my wife) within the last month and used my wife’s for the first time on the 6th. Got the $50 credit on the 10th. Haven’t stayed at a Hyatt ever.
That message from Chase says that it’s for people who have made a reservation at Hyatt OR stayed at a Hyatt. So just make a reservation before you apply for the card and then cancel the reservation if your plans fall through.
Made a reservation online? Can’t one just make a future reservation, apply for the card, receive the promotional benefits, and then cancel that future reservation?
Do free nights expire?
When did this update to terms take place? I signed up for this card a few days ago and don’t recall seeing it.
Do points stays count towards this?
