Our Verdict
There is currently a coin shortage, we’ve seen deals from Wawa, local banks and Royal Exchange. Great time to get rid of any coins you have around the house.
I did this, but I do not see the $5 credit in my Amazon account. Is there something I need to activate?
On the coinstar screen I did click “yes” I have used coinstar before. Don’t know if that ruined it.
Do it have to be one single transaction? Was $2 short and the damn cashier wouldn’t give me changes for $2. And too bad the credit don’t apply to gift cards
If I remember correctly, the machines also allow you to feed in bills. I wonder if that would work.
Didn’t take it when i tried.
My time has come- piggy bank has been filling up with worthless pennies and nickels for years.
Best coin offer to date but doesn’t look churnable on the same account.
I wonder if Gift Card claim code = promotional credit. In practice, they are not the same. Gift card claim codes are gift cards, plain and simple. Promotional credits have an expiration date and other restrictions.
The coinstar code is a gift card. As soon as you apply it to your account you get an additional $5 promo credit with the restrictions listed above.
Not sure how much change I still have, but this thing is neat: http://www.coincalc.com/
About damn time, retailers love to complain about the coin shortage but no one offers any incentive to fix it (with the exception of perhaps Community State Bank which offered an incentive in July)
FYI, coin-counting machines have notoriously shitty accuracy, so you might want to bring slightly more than $30 in coins in case the machine shortchanges you.
Obviously, don’t bring any rare coins, e.g. dollar coins. The machine will likely count those as $0.00.
Really, I shouldn’t cash out Granny’s coin collection for a $5 Amazon GC bonus? Damn. I heard
ieatdogfood tried to cash in his rabies tags – the dog catcher was called in. What a mess.
No, I hide my gold in dog tags. I coat the gold in the crappy metal color.
From the terms, is the $5 credit for shipped and sold by Amazon? I hate those, so restricted for me 🙁
Offer only applies to products sold by Amazon.com (look for “sold by Amazon.com” on the product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime Eligible”.
Does “Offer limited to the first time a customer gets an Amazon.com Gift Card claim code at a physical location” mean first time during this promo that starts Sep 15, or first time ever?
It seems like each Amazon account will be able to do this promo once – regardless of what they’ve done in the past. But be the data point!
