Huntington Bank is offering a bonus of up to $300 for opening a new personal checking bonus. The bonus is extremely confusing when it comes to the end dates
- Physical mailers say that the end date for this promotion is 10/31/2018
- The URL contains august
- The landing page states the bonus expired on July 28th, 2018
Because the actual website says the end date is July 28th I personally wouldn’t apply. The $300 bonus is $100 better than the $200 bonus currently being offered, but overall I think the other $500 bonus (requires Huntington 25 account) is the best offer so the confusing dates don’t matter too much. Just a warning about Huntington Bank. I pulled my EWS, just got it today actually.
I had opened a Huntington checking account back in May 2017, and closed it about 5 weeks later.
Huntington put “closed for cause” on my EWS report. Might want to check your EWS if you have applied with Huntington in the past. Just sent in a dispute to EWS. The only reason I can think of, is that they didn’t like that I opened it for the bonus, and then closed it a little over a month later.
William website now reflects 10/31/2018 end date. Also states “This offer is only available to applicants residing in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.”
Also do the mailers contain a promo code as it there is a promo code field on the first part of the application page.
I know it’s mildly annoying that the URL states AUG, but doesn’t mean the code isn’t still good. But in the banker instructions it says “claim promotion code”… is that code afc300aug? Or was this a targeted mailer?
From what I can see in the posted picture of the mailer, there is no URL. Guessing that was with some personal info you didn’t post.
Anyway, if I was in a state listed, I would go for this over the $200 bonus in a heartbeat.

Nope. Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania etc area. Not the midwest or west coast.
The area covers the east portion of midwest… MI, IN and OH.

I recently signed up for the last huntington bonus a month or so ago. It had been just over a year since I had closed my previous huntington account so I was within the 12mo period and qualified for the bonus according to the fine print. However, at the very last step when I opened my account it said something about the bonus code could not be applied. By this point the account was already opened, so I had to close it via phone. Annoying.
Does this mean you have to wait an additional 12 months from the time you opened this account? If so, then, yeah, annoying!
