Our Verdict
Prices seem to be comparable to in club offers, but make sure to do your own price comparisons.
All, if your credit did not automatically apply (it’s supposed to) – call Instacart at 888 246 7822. They can manually apply it once they confirm requirements met.
Good luck!
Also just a heads up if anyone has a housemate and both people did the deal, the code will only work for one of the two people. However, since the terms of the promo specified unique membership number and not unique address, you should be able to get Insta to manually credit the $20 to the housemate.
Cheers!
Anybody has a screenshot of the offer? When I asked about the 20$ credit today (which hasn’t been applied to my account yet), I was asked to send a screenshot of the 20$ credit offer.
Fine print on the offer was credit would be applied by 10/26.
Steve, i have one if u still need it email me at electronicsbydesignllc at gmail
Has anyone got the $20 credit? My order has been delivered on Oct 15th. The $20 credit has not show in my account when I was trying to place a new order on Oct 19th.
no
no
Not yet either
No. Is this a scam? Seems fishy 🙁
Thank you all for answering my question. FYI, I received the $20 credit today!
If you have an Instacart Express membership, you can link it to your Costco Sameday account. For me this reduced the total price of my cart by about 10%.
I haven’t been able to link my account, keep getting “Authorization Failed”. Anyone else?
I also received the same message, tried twice.
I sent them a message, I suggest you do the same. Hopefully someone will look at that.
Any luck with finding a solution? Already tried calling twice. No one even seems to understand what I am trying to do 🙁
Are you sure linking Instacart Express to someday.costco.com will reduce price? The custom service told me after linking, the price will be the same.
I think the prices of goods are what they are, but Instacart Express removes the delivery fee and reduces the service charge. I’m assuming it works the same way here?
Thank you for answering my equation. However, on sameday.costco.com, the service fee and delivery fee is waived as long as your order is more than $35 without linking Instacart Express. I think you may not use sameday.costco.com.
You may as well be right, I haven’t tried yet. I wonder what the heck is the point then in linking them if that’s the case.
I built a cart on sameday.costco.com. it was just over $90. After linking, the price of every item dropped, and my total was just over $80.
Before 9/30, the membership has discount on sameday costco, but now it’s gone.
So what is the benefit of linking your membership then?
No idea. I never tried sameday without instacart express. Maybe in the future, the delivery will not be free.
Not worth it. Most of the items I need were marked up.
Just went to Costco right now after taking a screenshot of the items I was interested in and total markup came out to 24%. That’s not taking into account any tips – and for all the soda cans and water I order – I would feel bad giving the driver anything less than 20% on top of the markup. I guess if I was really lazy I’d do it, but anyone looking to “save money” isn’t likely to succeed.
Opportunity cost….
Calling someone lazy is pretty short-sighted. Maybe you’re making more money than the 24% mark-up plus tip. Maybe your time+stress is worth it. YMMV.
The sooner we end tip culture, the sooner we can ensure financial stability for workers. Continuing to tip enables businesses to underpay their employees because they know you’re let emotions drive your actions and you’ll make up the difference.
Tipping is asinine and archaic. Please consider reevaluating your thoughts on tip culture. There’s a reason it’s unheard of in so many places around the world.
Since covid we’ve done virtually all of our shopping by delivery or pickup, with a few exceptions. As you know Costco doesn’t offer pickup so we use their same day service. I know it’s not for everyone but $20 is $20.
Pretty sure this can be replicated for P2 as the secondary member. If I’m wrong someone please chime in.
Works for us. Thanks for your concern, always great to know there’s DoC members that care about my shopping habits. 👍
Of course there is a markup, you’re paying for the convenience of having someone else do your shopping and deliver it to your front door. As an added bonus it keeps you away from people and public indoor spaces during a pandemic, if that sort of thing matters to you. I just realized there is a small discount going through sameday.costco.com than directly via Instacart. Alas the Costco website seems to be broken and doesn’t allow me to link my Instacart (Express) account.
It’s not like Target/Shipt (Target owns Shipt), Costco and Instacart are two separate things. You can either go through Instacart and buy from Costco or go through Costco who uses Instacart for shopping. You also can’t use Instacart coupons/credits if going through Costco Same Day.
Instacart has coupons? As far as credits I’ve only had them when I refunded something to the account as opposed to the credit card. If you do link your Instacart account to sameday.costco.com, does it actually integrate with the Instacart app in any way? Will you be able to see/manage your order in there or do you have to do everything via the Costco website regardless?
As far as I know, they are separate and can’t be integrated. You have to be a member of Costco to use same day but you don’t have to be a member if shopping through Instacart, with even higher prices. If you’re an Executive member, you will get the 2% if ordering via same day but not if through Instacart.
And I’ve gotten several coupons through Instacart. DoC just posted last week that there were some targeted accounts.
You can link it in your Costco account settings but I’m not sure what the benefit is.
While Costco is by far one of the best with covid, we’ve naturally progressed more towards pickup and delivery this year. Time (and stress) has value. Add three kids and even more so. We’ve actually saved money overall by not being enticed to buy things not on the list. Goes for other stores as well. All in all I’ve been surprised by the value proposition of delivery services this year.
If you have Instacart Express membership I assume it’ll give you free shipping and reduce your service fees. As it does otherwise when you shop via Instacart directly.
1) Costco uses Instacart as the backend for sameday purchases
2) Markup is slightly higher for each item (more of a markup on heavier items, it seems) compared to in store prices
3) Instacart has it’s own Costco option, where each item is marked up slightly more than on the Costco sameday website. Instacart charges a service fee, which Costco sameday doesn’t charge. Instacart also charges a delivery fee unless you buy once of their subscriptions. You don’t need a subscription for Costco sameday, and there is no delivery fee charge for orders over $35, but you do need a valid Costco membership.
So:
– Instacart Costco is more expensive than Costco sameday, which is more expensive than Costco in store
– For those who have a Costco membership and don’t want to go in person to a Costco warehouse right now, Costco sameday is a better/cheaper option than Instacart Costco.
This! This person has the done analysis many of us have AND they’ve taken to time to break it down and post here. Kudos!
Markup almost voids the $20 as everything is priced higher by approx 20%.
At least Costco is nice enough to tell you that’s how it works.
