Escape Lounges are accessible to anybody with an American Express Platinum card and last week saw them add two new lounges:
- T. F. Green Airport (PVD, found in Providence Rhode Island). Open from 5AM until 9PM daily, found in the main terminal inside security, located just past Gate 18 on the right side. This is the only public lounge offered at this airport (there is a military organization lounge that is not open to the general public).
- Second Escape lounge has been added to the Ontario, California International Airport (ONT). This is 2,800 square feet and found in Terminal 4 (serving both American & Southwest airlines). The first Escape lounge was added to Terminal 2 earlier in January of this year.
It’s interesting to see Escape Lounges ramping up the number of lounges they have in the program. This with the addition of American Express purchasing LoungeBuddy makes me question whether American Express is considering cutting ties with Priority Pass in the future.
Hat tip to TPG
Finally a lounge at PVD, expected one when Norwegian announced service a few years ago. Now if only Delta would fly more than 3x daily to DTW and ATL…
do escape lounges allow entry on arrival? will fly / arrive to OAK in May… wonder anyone was able to get in to any escape lounge upon arrival? hope its restriction is not the same as Centurion’s. Thx
I’ve used the escape lounge at OAK 3 or 4 times as an arriving passenger and have never encountered an issue or had anyone even mention it.
Seems like cutting ties with the domestic PP lounges wouldn’t make much difference. But it sure would be nice if they could re-establish ties with American / United / etc. in airports not served by a Centurion Club.
Would love for them to dump PP if it meant more unique lounges. PP is already available with CSR, which most people here have.
Interesting question – I wonder how many people really have both Amex Platinum and CSR? And how many of those plan to keep both cards for more than their first year to collect the bonus?
Plot twist: Amex buys Priority Pass
Looking forward to see Amex buys Priority Pass and kicked Chase/Citi/CNB out of PP program lol
