On September 17th, 2018 Hilton and Playa Hotels & Resorts announced a strategic partnership. As part of these partnership two all inclusive resorts owned and managed by Playa Hotels & Resorts in the Caribbean and Latin America will join the Hilton program by the end of 2018. They also plan to open eight additional properties together by the end of 2025. The two properties joining the program by 2018 are:
- Hilton La Romana (currently Dreams La Romana)
- Hilton Playa del Carmen (currently Royal Playa del Carmen)
I’m not a huge all inclusive fan, but I know some readers love them. Has anybody stayed at either of these two properties before? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Makes my new HH Aspire potentially more interesting.
Interesting news, thanks. Bit skeptical though until we see how Hilton prices these, esp. on the points side…. Have been to Playa del Carmen — and much enjoyed the mid-tier Viva / Wyndham options there. (gorgeous calm beaches there on the “Mexican Riviera” too — very swimmable — unlike the often dangerous beaches at Cancun or the forbidden waters of Cabo…. Curious you’re not a fan of AIC’s in concept. By contrast, I’m more with PWAC’s post just today about how much we “hate” the really “nice” hotels that over-charge you extra for everything….. (“The Willard” style) — the nasty, greedy tradition of high end American hotels (unlike their global counterparts)….
The Royal was phenomenal when I first stayed 9 years ago. [offensive remark removed]. I don’t know how it is these days

This is racist DoC. I’m surprised you let it pass. [reference to offensive remark removed] does not qualify one to say whatever they want.
Agreed.
