Our Verdict
Requires a deposit of one nights stay, but can cancel with no charge up to 72 hours before check in. As typical with these types of promotions they won’t always (or even often) save you the full 20% or anything at all but might as well try when booking with Hyatt.
Hat tip to The Gate
I rebooked my Hyatt Regency Denver Colorado Convention Center reservation to the PRIDE rate which was lower even than my Leverage rate or the points rate. It was very strange though, the PRIDE rate for each individual night seemed to vary a lot based on which combination of nights I selected to rebook. I eventually settled on 5 of the 8 nights to rebook and the other 3 nights to leave on points.
As I recall, the list of properties for this code is VERY small…like 5 or 10 I think. At least that was what I saw on another blog but maybe it was wrong or just a partial list. Seemed awfully narrow to even be worth having, so maybe it was only a partial list I read and it is much more widespread than I first though for availability.
Frankly I really really wish companies would just stop being political, ideological, etc and just stick to business. Make your widgets. I don’t need or want any company in any industry trying to win points with one group or another group, trying to cater to one type of belief system, ideology, social more, etc regardless of if they are widespread in acceptance, fringe in acceptance, etc. I mean, so if PRIDE is the discount code for this month, does that mean we should see codes like WOMEN, BLACK HISTORY, CANCER, AWARENESS, AIDS, HISPANIC, ASSAULT, AAPIH, etc etc etc? Maybe I am just old fashioned but I would just like to see companies offer sale codes that are not particular to anything or anyone or any cause, thought, policy, belief, group, sector, etc and just do stuff like June Sale discount code JUNESALE for 20% off.
As long as there are brands, there will be attempts to differentiate brands. Competition will drive brands to cater to their target audience. All things being equal (and increasingly, travel products are near-equal), ties will go to the brand we like more, and that includes reflecting our ideas.
You can call that a company “being ideological,” but I’d posit it’s primarily reflecting their target audience.
Yeah but some companies attempts to market to groups based on their sexual identity, political affiliation, interest in dogs versus cats, where they live, their favorite color, etc etc etc are meaningless to me. I am not in any way shape or form going to drive my travel dollars to one company over another because they put out a discount code based on my sexuality or politics or ideology or anything else. I’m going to drive it based on value for my dollar and the quality of the product and experience I receive vis a vis the price and value and I imagine that the overwhelming majority of consumers are the same.
I might be kidding myself but I really don’t think I am, at the end of the day I think value and quality of experience is what drives people’s business, not some kind of ideological posturing for whatever group a multinational corporation is trying to win points with when all they really want to do as a company is drive profit into their pocket.
I mean, I’d estimate that 90% of Hyatt promo codes are non-political. Ultimately they are going to market the way they think they’ll get most business. If that means pandering, so be it. Lastly, being non-political is interpreted as being pro-status quo, usually for worse.
yeah. what about the other six deadly sins? they feel left out.
or maybe they’re saving them! that’s right.
UPCOMING 20% HYATT CODES:
November — GLUTTONY
December — ENVY
January — SLOTH
February — LUST
etc.
Good point!
And while we are it, since it has been shown the people at highest risk of contracting the monkeypox are homosexuals – with a 500 fold increased compared to straight couples (per LA, CA health dept), Hyatt should have a another promo like, “don’t pack fudge at home when you can do it in a Hyatt! use promo code Monkey500x!
Why does PRIDE bother you so much? You’re probably the type of person who says “I don’t see color.”
Doesnt seem to work anywhere
I don’t use this code! Bit me!
