[YMMV] IHG: 20% Discount On Cash + Points Booking (Buy Points For Under 0.5¢)

The Offer

  • IHG is currently offering a 20% discount on cash + points bookings

Our Verdict

With these bookings you can cancel your stay and get the points back for the cash portion of the stay. Normally doing this costs you 0.575¢ per point with this promotion you should be able to effectively buy points for under 0.5¢ per point. This is cheaper than when IHG offers a 100% bonus.

Another advantage of this method is that this will code as IHG and you can earn a category bonus on some cards. When you purchase points normally it’s through points.com so no category bonus is earned. Looks like it actually codes as business services. When booking your stay there will be multiple options and some are a worse rate, so remember to compare and ensure you’re getting sub 0.5 per point.

This appears targeted, I got an email saying “Save 15% on Points + Cash bookings”

Is this the way IHG is announcing they increased the lowest conversion rate from 0.0575 to 0.0596 per point? Anyone seeing lower rates?

Book by August 21, 2025, and save on the cash portion of your booking for stays through September 27, 2025 – bummer, was hoping this would save me some $$ on the expensive InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort for my 2026 trip 🙁

FYI – these don’t code as IHG or even business, but as “business services.”

Yes, but they could be worth it if you buy them cheaply enough.

It appears to be a combination of TPG and Awardwallet, i.e. a travel blogging site that also offers a tool to keep track of all your points accounts. First time I heard of it as well.

yes. and thats where u fuck up ur knowledge by going to TPGarbage. AW is solid tho. in this game, u gotta do deep research on ur own. otherwise, ur gonna just adopt stupid shit like IHG pts are “low value”. thats like saying a 6.35mm handgun cant do damage. not if u shoot the eyes.
