Update 11/2/21: IHG is extending award night certificates issued in 2021 until December 31, 2022 (meaning award certificates that were extended into 2021 won’t be extended, only new certificates issued in 2021).
Update 5/19/21: IHG is again extending certificates until December 31, 2021. I assume this is for certificates that didn’t have an end date in 2021 (e.g ones that have been previously extended). In addition points won’t expire until at least December 31, 2021. The extensions will start showing up in the coming days.
Late last year IHG announced that free night certificates that were due to expire December 31, 2020 would be extended to August 31, 2021. IHG has now announced extensions for certificates with an original end date in 2021 will now be valid until December 31, 2021. The statement is as follows:
Certificates with an original 2021 expiration date have been extended and can now be redeemed through December 31, 2021. All expiration dates on your Anniversary Night certificates will be updated in your account by February 15, 2021.
Remember this is based on the original expiration date so won’t apply to any certificates already extended.
