IHG PointsBreak List Now Live – Valid For Bookings Until February 28th

Update 11/26/18: The new IHG PointsBreak list is now live. Some interesting properties:

On Monday November 26th IHG will release a new PointsBreaks list. IHG members will be able to book select properties for 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000 points per night. So far no sample list has been provided.  No Previously all PointsBreaks properties cost 5,000 points per night but two lists ago they introduced other properties costing 10,000 and 15,000 points per night. Fingers crossed for some good properties this time.

Its becoming a little bit of a joke especially for Domestic hotels.
There are domestic hotels priced at 15K all year round which are far better then the 15K ones on the list.

Worst list ever. Very surprising for winter, as there are a lot of hotels in the Northern Hemisphere where it would definitely be off-season. For 15,000 points, you’d think there would be a couple hundred hotels.

Since IHG people are looking at this post, wanted to share some useful info.

Whatever you do make sure you have at least 5K points in your account. Do not use them all up to zero. As long as you have 5K points you can always buy points at 0.5-0.6 cpp by using “book points+cash and then cancel” method. Could be very useful if a specific lucrative redemption shows up. Basically if you are about to make a cash booking @ IHG property and the award is available check if 0.5 cpp purchase is cheaper. If it is – you can always get the points for that price (as long as you have at least 5K to begin with). Yes, you are not earning points on award bookings (you may take that into consideration as well), but you get an award booking which is very flexible, which is a huge plus for me, for example.

If anybody is interested – let me know, I will provide more info.

Good luck.

Darv, in the past I was only able to get 0.6 only ($30 for 5K). Interested about 0.5 myself. If 0.6 would do for you i can find you some.

In general properties in midle states for the days within a Week or two will give you that. Not necessarily the cheapest ones. If you look for further days it will be more expensive. Also make sure you are still within a cancellation requirements.

Good luck.

Good to know.. yep, points.com do have sales from time to time. I prefer point+cash & cancel option for 2 reasons (a) points.com does not code as IHG and not sure even if it codes as travel.. when points+cash does. So x5 (or even x10) if you use IHG card, depends on what card you got… as a very least x3 on travel on many cads., and (b) it is instant. With points.com I am not sure how quickly the points post.

You have to click the tabs for 10k and 15k points hotels.

What a screaming joke….. “Interesting” list indeed for anybody heading to Columbia to do a…. deal for the Holidays, or hey, how ‘about getting down in Vietnam? For the rest of us, how pathetic — for anyone with a still functioning memory who remembers the value that IHG’s point breaks program had, once upon a time (and not that long ago)

I called it over at the once valued “loyalty lobby” — the once much celebrated IHG point breaks program is now (un) officially “dead.”

I got the Crowne Plaza Potzdammer Platz in October for 15k a night. Upgraded with club access. Tremendous value!

Yep, the same. 40K per night usually (I would never do it for 40K, but 15K was a good deal). On some nights 15K presented really good value – Thanksgiving weekend $240+ per night. So, point breaks definitely have some good options, not all of them are good, but they exist.
