IHG To End Free Kindle eBooks Program

IHG has announced that starting in 2020 they will be ending the free Kindle eBooks program. Members were previously able to receive free eBooks depending on their status level:

  • Club: Two free ebooks annually (one every six months)
  • Gold: Four free ebooks annually (one every quarter)
  • Platinum: Eight free ebooks annually (two every quarter)
  • Spire: 12 free ebooks annually (three every quarter)

You were also only able to choose from a selected list of books, rather than the full Kindle library. I only found out about this benefit in late 2017, IHG seemed to do a poor job on marketing this benefit. I’m not sure if that was intentional to keep costs low but either way December 31st, 2019 will be the last day users can redeem free eBooks.

Agreed this is a small loss given that the books tended to be bad, and their list of top fiction and nonfiction never seemed to change, either.

The books were all crap anyway, no loss.
