Maximize Fine Hotels & Resorts Benefits With MaxFHR.com

Yesterday it was leaked that the American Express Platinum cards would be getting a $300 semi annual credit for Fine Hotels & Resorts. A reader pointed out a site I’d never seen before called MaxFHR.com that makes it easier to maximize benefits such as these. Looks extremely useful especially as the new benefit doesn’t have a minimum stay requirement. Downside is that you need to buy a Platinum subscription (currently $48/year) to MaxMyPoint to search for any dates except the current night.

Please mention that you need to buy a Platinum subscription (currently $48/year) to MaxMyPoint to search for any dates except the current night.

The Platinum Date Filter will allow users to find lowest rates easily during a given period of time. But all users can browse the rates of one year of any hotels. It’s NOT limited to current night only.

This site isn’t working for me. After getting platinum to choose a specific date range, it just hangs on the loading screen indefinitely. Doesn’t have any problem loading up the ads though, of course, despite paying for a higher tier. Don’t waste your money folks.

Apparently there are zero FHR hotels available on labor day in the entire United States. This tool rocks. Great.

To their credit, they at least refunded me the platinum fee. I’ll just move on and do the searches manually. Way too much frustration with this tool. Still very much do not recommend based on my remarkably frustrating 45 minutes of searching with zero results.

Thanks for reporting the issue. The pro date filter should be working now.

Unfortunately this list doesn’t include THC. Obviously the website name implies that, but it would be nice if there was a separate portal that showed those as well.

THC not a good value. (Most) rates are $50+ more per night. which means the $100 experience credit is just a refund of what you pay. What else — early/late check, nominal value at best. Maybe an upgrade? And if you have certain statuses, those are irrelevant.

FWIW I’ve done better with THC hotels. Yes, they’re a class below but they’re priced accordingly. Was able to get 3 nights in SYD at the Kimpton there for less than $200 out of pocket. Can’t beat that.

THC requires 2 nights. FHR only requires 1 for full benefits. In many ways, it’s cheaper to book FHR.

Thank you, I wasn’t clear on the number of nights required. I always thought it was 2 for both 🙄

I have already used the $200 for this year. Will I be able to use the $300 too? If yes then will that $300 expire in December ?

I am thinking yes because the $600 credit is broken up into 2 semi-annual credits.

The data point worth knowing… You need to use your credit by booking before September 18th. You don’t need to stay before.. The running theory based on previous history, is that if you don’t use it, the new credit will replace it. If you do use it, the new credit will be added in addition to.

You mean the existing $200 annual FHR credit (assuming the new credits replace it.)

Correct

Potential double dip then? We have a trip we’re planning and are holding off for the $300 credit. Haven’t used this years yet.

That’s the theory… I just booked a stay near my home because I have nothing else planned. I will either use the room, cancel it depending on the terms, or reschedule it. Figure it’s not much at risk.

Gold upgrade to plat now to lock in annual fee or wait?
Think these benefits will see some grandfathering like CSR did?

certainly makes it much easier then having to log into amex travel to search for FHR hotels.
