Update 2/22/26: TSA PreCheck decision has been reversed. Decision still doesn’t make sense as they cite staffing constraints.
Washington Post is reporting that DHS will pause TSA PreCheck & Global Entry starting 6AM ET 2/22. This is in response to the partial government shutdown. TSA PreCheck & Global Entry are supposedly funded by user fees. Suspect this is more about making people angry and blaming sides than a true operational reason.
Aviation Passenger Security Fees (APSF) are $5.60 be segment and that pays approximately 55% of the total TSA budget of $11.6 billion.
