Paypal Digital Gifts occasionally runs deals directly on the site paypal.com/us/gifts/. That’s aside from the deals they run on eBay. The way it always worked until now is that you had to buy one gift card at a time, but you could keep on buying until Paypal’s security flag stopped you.
They are running a few deals now, and readers pointed out some changes to the checkout system:
They’ve now added a ‘Cart’ to their site which allows adding multiple gift cards to the cart and doing one checkout. This is great news since it causes less flags and security alerts with the credit card companies.
You still need to add one card to the cart and keep repeating that to get the desired amount; they don’t have an ‘update quantity’ option yet. And, for some reason, the cart separates out any discounted gift cards purchased from regular purchases, so you can’t add a discounted Staples gift card and a discounted Google Play gift card and do one checkout – you have to checkout each discounted card brand on its own.
Two readers in the comments of the previous post note that they’ve also added limits now to the gift card deals, with each deal being limited to 5. This makes sense: it’s the same way that PPDG operates on eBay with a limit each person can buy on a deal. You won’t see the limit at checkout until you try to actually pay. If you have more than 5 cards it’ll error out at the payment stage.
I also notice now a special ‘Deals’ tab and URL which allows you to see any deals currently running which is convenient (previously, you had to scroll through them on a rotating banner on the main page of the site).
