Jeesuz Christus man, is it so hard to walk into Chipotle one time and pay with one or more gift cards of a small balance? Talk to the cashier, let them know that you have several gift cards to use, and they will take care of it. Use Google Pay to manage the gift cards if you have more than one — piece of cake.
FYI, if your online order (delivery or pickup) at Chipotle is larger than the balance on your giftcard, you cannot use the giftcard. There is no option to cover the remainder with a credit card. The online help desk says you can use it in-store, but none of my local places will accept it. I’ve had ~$3.50 on my card for months.
You need to train the employee to do split tender. i have the same issue with burger King gift cards. there’s just no training and i suppose they’re not paid enough to care so all they do is say no. you’ll need to know the exact amount on the card so they can “charge” that amount to the gift card, then pay the rest with credit card. else try another location or when they’re less busy so you can get a manager, i suppose. good luck
I don’t know if this will help or not, but I add the gift card to Google Pay and then scan it in store. I don’t tell them I’m doing split tender, it just takes the gift card off and if I need to pay more than they say I still owe $X.
