- Why It’s Still A Bad Idea to Post or Trash Your Airline Boarding Pass by Krebs On Security. I see people doing this so often and I just have to shake my head at how much information they are unknowingly giving out. We’ve even seen some ill advised promotions that encouraged people to post their boarding passes.
- What Did We Try At McDonald’s Fiji? by Michael W Travels. I don’t care what the haters say, I love trying different menu items at McDonald’s. Shame Fiji doesn’t have anything unique.
- Report of redit user dark41 receiving a $2,500 Delta voucher for offering to be bumped from a flight after the eclipse. Good to see airlines are actually offering more than $1,300 to bump people, that minimum still needs to be massively increased to further incentivize airlines to avoid involuntary bumps in my opinion.
McDonalds around the world don’t all taste the same. For example in India, Delphi’s plain burger was way to spicy for me and I couldn’t eat it… We definitely try to explore them during our travels, why limit ourselves?
Eat where you want. It’s your vacation. I don’t go to McDonalds when traveling, but I might if I was traveling with a child.
I personally never step foot into a McDonalds when traveling elsewhere in the world. Try some local flavors and experience unique culinary delights, rather than something that is frowned upon at home .
I also do not typically eat at McDonald’s however. Spent 12 months in Iraq eating at the DFAC. Went to Paris for R&R. I destroyed a Big Mac while singing God Bless America…
I love McD for breakfast when away, it’s quick and cheap. No one claims to eat there but they sell a ton of food.
I like to eat there; it helps me poop. A couple greasy big macs and fries and I will have explosive diarrhea and I will spackle those toilets for you. Quite possibly the walls behind it too. It’s such a relief.
I usually prefer trying the local cuisine if possible. But if I need Wifi or I want to play it safe and not risk local food health issues, I go with McDonalds.
In a lot of countries McDonalds is the hangout spot for the LOCALS in smaller provincial settings…it does not have the same negative reputation as the US and the food tastes better imo because the workers are usually not in poor morale being employed there, so you’d be able to have your “authentic” cultural immersion by going there as well after a night of drinking.
In many lesser developed countries, McDonalds is often more expensive than the local places. Thus it is often filled with middle class and upper class customers.
McDonalds has come to the rescue many times when I have had difficulty finding Wifi spots.
I got offer for $1k cash or $2.5k voucher or 250k skypesos. I took skypesos for 3 people. This was over the phone two days in advance even before I got to the airport.
How did you get an offer over the phone??
The last time I was bounced on Delta back in 1998, Delta offered everyone bounced(around 15 customers) $1k in flight vouchers + 1 paid night in a nice hotel + meal vouchers. That was on an international flight ATL-SJO around Thanksgiving Day travel.
250k in skypesos looks like the best offer between the three in my opinion.
Hi KS,
Did all 3 of you receive a total of 3 x 250k skypesos?
First time I have seen a bounce 2 days in advance. Usually bounces occur at the gate before or during boarding.
Rethinking the offer:
+ I would take $1k cash if not planning Delta travel in the next 365 days (cash is king and skypesos are not a stable currency)
+ I would probably go for the $2.5k voucher over the 250k skypesos unless I have a planned Delta trip to use the 250k skypesos soon with better value over the $2.5k voucher
Speaking of McDonald’s, I highly suggest watching “The Founder” on Netflix.
Everyone posting their boarding pass on social media deserves to have their accounts hacked. Should be mandatory.
