- American Airlines FA Accused of Hitting Woman with Stroller, Picks Fight with Second Passenger by Travel Codex. Bit difficult to know what went on here without seeing the initial incident. I can’t imagine why an employee would hit a passenger (with a stroller) on purpose, so you’d think the initial incident was an accident. The AA FA was completely out of line, but the passenger saying that he’d knock the FA out isn’t blameless either. That level of aggression from both sides is rarely if ever warranted.
- Leaving Minsk By Airplane? Give Yourself At Least 3 Hours by The Gate. Not sure if I’m out of the ordinary, but I typically always give myself three hours. Usually gives me a chance to get some work done before boarding and I don’t need to worry about missing flights. This has saved me countless times.
- Resolution and update on my friend’s Chase travel concierge fail by As The Joe Flies. I don’t really think that the compensation Chase gave this family is fair. They received 5,000 points and had to organize alternate accommodation themselves. They did get their booking refunded, but they still had to pay for all their accommodation (and had to book two rooms instead of the one suite they had). I don’t really care who’s at fault, that’s for the Chase concierge to follow up as that’s the whole point of this type of booking service.
- Sears & Kmart getting into the free Soda credit card game via /r/churning . Careful guys, this is a really competitive space. In all seriousness the card is actually pretty good. You can view more of these bad offers here.
Fan of you DOC but you link to some garbage blogs on a reg basis.
I link to blogs that I enjoy reading or that have posted something I find interesting. Not everybody has to share my thoughts on what they find interesting. What blogs do you take issue to? As always happy to listen to constructive criticism.
I had one issue with a hotel reservation made on my CSR, paid with points at 1.5cpp. It was for a non-chain 4-star hotel in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. We showed up, and the hotel had no record of our reservation. I showed them the confirmation from Chase travel. They still had a room of the same type available (suite), let us in without charge, and said they would try to figure it out the next morning.
Which they did. We didn’t make a single phone call to Chase ourselves.
It was still a bit unnerving – what if the hotel had been fully booked ?
Looks to me like the passenger was saying , pick on aomeone your own size.
Hey, Doc could you please help me with an answer to my IHG comment yesterday.
thanks
Sure, just be patient.
If you haven’t missed a flight you’re spending too much time in airports
Missing a flight is simply not an option for me most of the time. If I miss a business meeting because I didn’t arrive at the airport early enough, I wouldn’t expect to have a job at the end of the day.
Like I said arriving early has helped me countless times and means I reduce my stress levels. I can get work done just as easily at an airport than at a hotel, especially if I’m in a nice lounge so why not get there a bit too early!
So sad to see the blogs all be in a race to repeat EVERY reddit post. You have great info here – no need to recap everything seen on reddit. We look to you as a great filter, DoC. You have the best blog out there, and the analysis is great, but don’t need to have posts or recap posts that cover everything on reddi!
It was one funny post from reddit and something that I always cover because I like seeing awful deals. Other three posts aren’t from there at all so I’m not sure I understand the criticism.
Just be forewarned that Sears/Kmart has warned investors it may go out of business within the year.
