[Update][Rumor] Chase Sapphire Reserve To Increase Annual Fee To $795, New Benefits

Update 6/11/25: The rumors out there are that we’ll have more details on the changes come June 17th, and the changes will go live either June 20th or 21st. Also that significant parts the old program will be grandfathered for a significant amount of time for existing card holders.

Update 6/10/25: The changes in points-earning have been basically confirmed through a leaked image on the Chase website (which has since been removed). It showed the 8x Chase Travel, 4x Flights/Hotels, 3x Dining, 1x Everywhere. Image below. (ht r/chasesapphire)

Update 6/9/25: There’s now advertising signage in Grand Central Terminal and elsewhere with reference to an apparent refresh of the Sapphire Reserve card coming in Summer 2025. You can see the image on Reddit r/chasesapphire. We still don’t know whether the details mentioned below are accurate. We now also know that a business version of the Sapphire Reserve card will be launching in Summer 2025 as well.

Update 5/15/25: In a recent travel magazine Chase has removed reference to 3x on travel (still mentions the 3x on dining).

Hat tip to Jeffrey A

The “new” CSR is hugely downgraded from the current one.
For me at least.  I fly twice a year and rent a car 8-10 times a year. Do the math…. I don’t order food, but I eat out. I don’t rent cars via Chase Travel because it would  cost me 3X more money. Same with hotels. I never fly in the Summer, so $800 buys me premium seat to my destination. On positive side- I can smoothly transfer to Preferred now, by cancelling CSR, and even get 60K bonus.

Not impressed with their new perks. Was hoping the $250 Apple credit was an actual credit to use on One but looks to be restricted to AppleTV+ and Music.

https://account.chase.com/sapphire/reserve/benefits

Theres’a also a link there to see the grandfathered benefits.

Ugh yeah that SUCKS. I spend $40 per month on an Apple One family plan. I need the iCloud space and I need my kid to have access to the Apple Music. A “free” subscription to Apple Music and Apple TV+ is not the least bit helpful to me. I’ll be sticking with the CSP.

Agreed. Between that and potentially not getting a double dip on the travel credit sealed my decision. My 48 month restriction is up next week, will be going for the CSP.

Looks like new changes for existing card holders, and likely the new fee for renewals, takes places Oct 26, 2025.

$795 will make lots of people to downgrade or cancel their card

I got the CSP in October 2024. Does it make sense for me to upgrade now? To get the $300 travel credit and also for the new benefits.

You can’t upgrade it. It hasn’t been one year since you’ve had the CSP, so you cannot upgrade/downgrade until the CSP annual fee hits in Oct per the CARD act.

I opened CSP Oct 19th, annual fee hit 11/01/25. Can I upgrade late Oct or I need to wait until annual fee in Nov?

There’s a rumor on Reddit that they’re also dropping the 1.5 cpp redemption, which would really bum me out if true

If they do that this card is just absolutely dead. I’ll offload my points tomorrow.

CSR has been my all-in-one travel card for years. I was already on the fence with the leaked changes, but if they drop the $300 travel credit AND get rid of the 1.5cpp redemption? That’s absurd. I’m out.
