Shell Fuel Rewards has partnered with American Airlines. You earn 100 bonus miles after your first fill up and 2 miles per gallon. Unfortunately if you sign up with this, you lose the 5¢ discount.

Looks like this was quietly changed to 3 miles/gallon, at least for me
While Shell is not cheap, GasBuddy discounts Shell gas nicely where I live, often 25 cents per gallon.
GasBuddy usually reduces the discount it gives you by the 5 cent Shell discount, so it might be worth doing this AA deal for some people.
The AA miles cannot be stacked with the Gold status discount, but they CAN be stacked with the S Pay discount (paying with direct debit from your bank account through the app for 10 cpg off.)
IIRC S Pay already could not be stacked with the Gold status discount, so this isn’t a big negative for me.
Anyone knows the current AA mileage expiration policy? Has AA extended the expiration date due to the pandemic situation?
I believe it’s through March so no miles should expire before April 1, 2022 otherwise the standard no activity in 18 months should still apply.
some of us drive a tesla…
That sucks
Just load some gas in your trunk for rewards.
I use my car so little the gas evaporates.
Shell in my area is at a minimum 10-15 cents higher than other stations.
the rest of us aren’t knee deep in debts
The 5 cents per gallon discount is for Gold members. For lowly Silver members like me, its only 3 cents per gallon discount. Still not sure if its worth passing up for 2 AA miles.
Isn’t gold free?
It’s 2 miles per gallon, not per dollar spent.
Could be useful to keep AA account active.
simplymiles is easier… cvs comes once in a while
Maybe useful for keeping AA miles unexpired. AA seems to be the only major player with expiration date.
The offer is 2 AA miles per gallon (not 2 miles per dollar spent)
