Our Verdict
Remember to check other portals to ensure you’re getting a good rate even with the bonus.
Anyone know if paying via PayPal on Giftcards.com after going through the Southwest Shopping portal will work to trigger this bonus?
I’m for some reason unable to pay on Giftcards.com w/ my US Bank Smartly 4% card, so I was going to try pay via PayPal using that card.
Waiting for AA portal instead 😀
Guys, they just devalued the program, like, by a lot.

They cut the earnings rates, which could also be interpreted as them trying to increase the value of their points?
You can ‘interpret’ anything however you want–it doesn’t make it true or good.
For passengers, this is likely not good because now we earn less. It’s simple.
Sure, if Southwest were to simultaneously decrease redemption rates for award flights, then, yes, in that hypothetical, there might be an increase in point values.
But sir, honestly, you know better: That has not happened. SW did not decreased those redemptions.
So, my conclusion is that either you were ignorant, or disingenuous–which is it?
And if you are in fact a simple contrarian, an edge lord, or a corporate shill, begone!
It’s just to upsell higher fares.
Oh, so, like I said, not ‘good’ for consumers. Thanks, Not Sam.
The program is not devalued. It costs the same for an award redemption. This is just earning rate.

Devaluations, generally. It’s undeniable.
Honestly, how much does Southwest pay you guys to carry water for them? I’d like to know. Seriously, I’ll ‘flip’ if the price is right. $25/hour? $50/post? Do you get dental coverage? If it pays the bills, I get it.
