Stop&Shop/Giant Food are running an excellent promotion through 12/1 which offers one of the following two offers:
1) $20 shopping voucher with $100 gift card purchase
2) 4x fuel points on gift cards
Via Frequentmiler, the $20 promotion at some Giant/Stop&Shop locations is working on Visa gift card purchases too, despite terms indicating the reverse.
That makes the deal extremely lucrative since many people like buying $500 Visa cards from grocery stores regardless, and Stop&Shop/Giant recently began allowing payment with credit card for the purchase of prepaid cards. You can buy Visa gift cards in $100 increments or just buy $500s, one at a time, depending on your MS goals.
YMMV; don’t rely on getting the $20 voucher with certainty since it’s possible it varies by store or that they’ll change it to conform with the terms which limit the deal to third-party gift cards only, not prepaid gift cards like Visa/MC/Amex.
Just bear in mind that many stores won’t be happy with splitting up Visa gift card purchases into multiple transactions. Proceed at your comfort level and store tolerance level. You’ll also have to use up the $20 coupons one at a time on $20 grocery purchases; they can’t be used in a single transaction.
