Used the app to order and pay after setting everything up. Checked my credit card and the amount charged was reflective of the $5 off, no issues. I didn’t get an email invite, I only added the offer to my paypal account after seeing this post.

Cheap lunch for today, thanks Doc!

According to the terms and conditions of the offer on the paypal website, the offer is good only for people who received an email invitation. See #3 below. Is this why it’s not working for everyone? Targeted ?

Subway Terms and Conditions
“Eligible Participant”: Available to the first 350,000 to save the offer, who are residents of any one (1) of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia who: (1) are eighteen (18) years of age or older; and (2) are holders of a U.S. personal, or business PayPal account in good standing (“Valid Account”)” during the Offer Period (defined below); and (3) receive an authorized email containing the invitation to participate in the offer (eligibility for/those who receive such an email will be determined solely by PayPal).

For anyone else having issues with the app, can confirm that this works on the website too.

The app is very broken. Sub of the day discount doesn’t show up. But the website is solid and worked with about 60 seconds of effort. Thanks for the tip!!

So I’m seeing some misinformation in the comments. Here’s what I did to get the deal.

Install Subway app on iPhone
Add Paypal as payment option
Add sandwich, check out with the full price of the sandwich (7.49)
10 seconds later get a notification from Paypal that I paid 2.49, the $5 discount was correctly applied

Worked for me. Got the recepit from PayPal a few mins after purchase showing the $5 credit. I made PayPal my default payment method, scanned the app for rewards and the cashier asked how I wanted to pay. I said with the app.

It did not work for the person I went to lunch with. Looking over stuff we see even though they were able to add the offer to their PayPal wallet via the link here, their PayPal login doesn’t show “wallet” at all, they have a (legit) business account with PayPal so maybe that why? The Subway person kept trying to make it work and while the rewards registered the payment would not process.

You could add Paypal method in the App and use it to pay at register. Confirmed in my location. In that case, you can use any coupon you want

Will the $5 be deducted from my order, or will the $5 be posted to my Paypal account afterwards?

For example, if I have a $8 order, do I see $5 deducted and only pay $3 when checkout. Or, I still need to pay $8, and wait for $5 posted to my Paypal account afterwards.

Thanks!

It is automatically deducted when you pay. As long as you have it saved to you wallet and have automatically use on, you’re good to go!

You see the $5 deducted in paypal, not subway.

Worked perfectly, Paypal immediately took off the $5 for my lunch. Pretty awesome deal getting a lunch combo for $1.50! Thank you for posting this Chuck!
