How are you guys extracting the coupon code to share? I am trying to find it but only seem to be able to follow automated prompts until the “activate now” button appears–and I’m afraid to click that thinking it’ll activate to my account before I get a chance to share it.

I had to do it without the app installed. Went to a browser and the code was in the URL.

An obligatory heads-up for new or out-of-the-loop baseball fans: MLB.TV mainly streams out-of-market games, so your local team will be blacked out all season.

For in-market games, you’ll still need cable or a live TV streaming service (YouTube TV, Hulu + TV, etc.).

Many MLB teams actually include free MLB.TV access if you or a friend are a full or partial season ticket holders – emails usually go out around spring training to the ticket purchaser. Again, these are out-of-market games, but hte benefit to these is they are much sooner if you care to watch spring training. For those, you can watch you home team play.

Someone always menions this, and yes there are unofficial ways to stream in-market games – some Reddit-based aggregator sites work for that or media apps in the Play Store like Kodi (when paired with unofficial plugins) can get the job done. That’s a Google search away. Streams can often be low quality, unstable, or you may have to sttle for away-broadcasts; it works most of the time but I wouldn’t host any watch parties.

MLB is expanding its MLB in-market package which I’m looking forward to trying this year now that it’s near me. This allows you to pay $20-$30/month to watch all in-market games for your home team (except national broadcasts). Teams I found are Cleveland, Philadelphia, Arizona, San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland, Colorado, New York, Minnesota, and Los Angeles – no cable or TV sub needed. This is seperate from MLB.TV. Search for In-Market Packages on MLB.com.

Good info. Nice that MLB is finally allowing the add-on for in market games, great for us cord cutters. Had been waiting for something like that but now in Chicago, the Cubs channel is $20 as a stand alone so no need for it.

VPNs can still work to access in market games, even as MLB has cracked down on a number of the services and servers. It takes a bit of persistence to figure out which ones can work, but it is doable.

This and the free international texting/internet is why I stay with TM. Other than that, TM is for the birds.

Same. TMO coverage is decent in urban centers but can be spotty further out.

I’m on an old grandfathered plan that has international texting. That plus the baseball keeps me around.

Are there shady streaming sites where you can watch all the games for free anyway?

Streameast I think is the best one, but remember to turn your ad blockers on.

Every time I try activating this offer this morning, I’m getting an error message saying, “We’re sorry, we were unable to activate your MLB.TV subscription.” Is anybody having any success activating?

In case anyone else is having this same problem, I figured out what the issue was. I was using a VPN on my phone. Once I turned that off, I was able to activate the subscription.

I see it’s not allowed to ask for a freebie in this thread. Does anybody know of any sites where I could ask someone for their code for $5 or something?

There’s threads on Slickdeals and the T-Mobile reddit I’ve seen for selling and buying codes. Most start at $10.

Most trades are in Amazon gift cards.
For $5, you will be largely ignored.
For $10, you might get lucky.
For $15, you will be able to complete a trade almost immediately.

Not trolling you, but is that a typo? Did you intend to instead say you’ll be ignored at $15 rather than at $5?

I’m just surprised people are paying instantly at a higher price rather than the lower price, haha.

I meant what I wrote. None of the code-holders are letting them go for a $5 gift card, and very few for $10. The codes are currently starting at $25 on eBay and going up to $65+. The offers of $15 or more are the ones getting code-holders’ responses on Slickdeals. It’s a seller’s market. There’s plenty of $10-beggers, but no one is answering them.

You’re out of your mind. You trash would be lucky to get $5 from illegally selling t-mobile’s gifts.

“Illegally selling”? So it’s against the law to sell a T-Mobile code?

Interesting question. It violates the terms of service of T-Mobile but the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) does not criminalize violating the terms of service agreements.

FWIW, I had like 20 messages in my inbox within minutes when I commented that I’d trade $10 for one.

I think more than $10 is definitely overpaying. They might have been more in demand earlier in the morning though.

and in a week the rate will be $5, but it is worth the extra $5 to be up and running for opening day.

Is there anyone with T-Mobile who won’t be using this promo? I’d be interested in working out a deal to get MLB.tv. Willing to give a small kickback
