Target Circle Spend Offers & Gift Card Deals

Target Circle often runs spend offers. You can find your own offers at this link (requires activation). These offers vary by account; I’m seeing an offer to spend $60 twice and then I’ll get a $15 credit.

Reader RM recommends a couple of other stacks to go along with this deal:

A lot of people are also seeing an offer in their Target Circle deals to get Target Circle 360 annual subscription for $24 (instead of the regular $99 fee), if that sort of thing interests you.

One problem with Target can be inconsistent stocking.

There was a Weekly Sale at Target this past week on Chobani yogurts, 6 individual packages for $6.

Sounded great, compared to the price at other places around here right now, except that my closest Target about half a mile away didn’t have most of them in individual packages, only in prepackaged boxes (not variety packs, all the same variety in the box).

So I had to go to my second closest Target a few miles away to find many more types of individual Chobani yogurt packages, and to be able to use this offer.

After Target sends you the choice gift card, you need to go to another website to redeem it for your choice. If you choose grubhub then, it’ll give you a grubhub GC code that you can enter in the grubhub app (I added it fine to mine).

The Choice gift card mentioned below has been mostly renamed to the One4All gift card recently.

And the One4All gift card can also be redeemed for a GrubHub gift card of the same amount or less, as you choose at the One4All redemption site.

For me, when I had GC balance they used send out wallet spend offer like spend $200 on Redcard and get $20 cash back. Not the usual ones like spend $75 and get $15 off/cash back.
They don’t want us to use our wallet, but they are not picky about it

A question for Target shoppers: my Circle offer is $10 Circle reward for $100 purchase. I’m looking at the Choice GC offer, get $15 Target GC with $100 Choice gift card purchase. What is the amount I need to purchase in Choice GC to stack the deals?

I seem to recall that a $100 GC purchase may not do it because of the strange way Target rings up the stack. Do I have to spend $115 or $125? Thanks for the feedback.

I had this same discussion with someone on another thread when I was testing this exact scenario with spend $90 get $10 but for the life of me, I can’t recall what the answer was. My instinct says to do the $115. If anything, it’s the safe way to go.

Target Circle offer does not take the automatic discount into account, and $15 Target GC is a kind of automatic discount. So yes, you must spend at least $115. On the other hand, some discount are manual and you must activate them in the wallet. In that case, the manual discount is part of the spending requirement.

RiskandReward Sorry to be late to the party, but I know the answer because I have done this many times at Target. Spend Credited Towards Offer = Actual Spend – Value of Target Gift Card. So, yes, you must spend $115 to get the system to count $100 towards the offer. Celia 🔗

The reason for this weirdness is that, as far as Target’s system is concerned, the free gift card is not free, but rather is paid for with part of your “Actual Spend.” Target does this to reduce the sales tax that would apply if you were buying actual stuff and not a 3rd-party gift card.

Last few times I tried stacking deals at Target, I was told by support that the bonuses and the spend $x get $y GC and other deals don’t work together. They were willing to send me a GC as a “one” time thing. I’ve given up on dealing with the Target deals since then, so I don’t know if they’ve changed it back.

I have an earn a $10 reward for a $70 purchase offer…as best I can tell buying a $100 choice GC would trigger it and the $15 target GC? Also, I guess I would use my Target 5% card? Ever since I learned the card doesn’t get 5% at the pharmacy I’m super leery of Target’s under the radar terms.

the $15 credit is not worth it. Just give you an example (Swiffer Power Mop refill):

Target: $14.99 for 5 pads and 1 solutions

Sam’s Club: $17.48 for 10 pads and 2 solutions.

So you need to spend $29.98 at Target for something that costs $17.48 at Sam’s. that’s your $15 credit right there. Only people like to throw hard earn money away shops at Target.

Ok, agreed, I wouldn’t try to price match everything. But I also think it is worth mentioning that Target has an annual gc sale with 10% off, which usually stacks with 5% back category on cc. That will typically make up for your 5 cents even if you discount the interest you could have made over the course of the year.

Sure it maxes out at 1000 dollars in 2p mode, but we don’t shop at Target to go much beyond that anyway.

I stock up on Target GC when Meijer runs the GC deal of 10-20% back and combine with the SYW deal. Target is cheaper or the same and better quality than Walmart anyway on a lot of things so getting 20-30% cheaper GCs is just icing on the cake.

I don’t know where you’re located, but here in Chicago area, Lays Chips party size is $5.44 at Walmart.

Target is within ~5% of Walmart, both ways, in my area. Much easier to shop at from parking lot to store. But to each their own.

JTX
JTX (@guest_2031602)
March 26, 2025 10:53

5.44 and 5.89 are over 8% difference in price. Imagine you spend $5k in grocery and that’s $400 in savings in a year. Also, check out Swiffer Power Mop refill:

Target: $14.99 for 5 pads and 1 solutions
Sam’s Club: $17.48 for 10 pads and 2 solutions.

Frey
Frey (@guest_2031628)
March 26, 2025 11:26

Just for fun, I took my last Target visit and compared it to Walmart:

Act Anticavity 3.99/3.98
Advil Dual 72, 11.39/11.52
Kitchen Basics stock 2.99/2.98
Good & Gather Eggs 4.99/4.97(Great Value brand)
1/2 gallon whole milk 1.59/1.56
+three other items that Walmart doesn’t carry

It’s such a negligible difference, actually come out ahead by 5 cents at Target. Quality of GG is better than GV, again in my opinion. And the best part is that I could do an online order and pick up without ever leaving my car if I wanted to. No minimum like Walmart.

As for “some people like to pay more,” I know every price of every item I buy for all the stores in my area. I weigh out time and effort.

And I see you mentioned the SYW card below. The 10% is only if you get the offer, that’s not a given. My Target counts as grocery so it’d be an added bonus if I had the offer.

JTX
JTX (@guest_2031635)
March 26, 2025 11:33

Frey
Frey (@guest_2031642)
March 26, 2025 11:43

DairyPure milk was one, closest comparison would be Lactaid at Walmart, maybe a 15 cents difference for a lesser brand.

The other two items fall into the same category of having to find an alternate brand.

If Walmart was the better deal, I’d get my items there. I don’t discriminate or have anything against Walmart. Target is just a better value in price and convenience.

This is true if one isn’t interested in focusing on how to obtain excess value. Between targeted Circle spend offers(e.g. $15 back on $130) and frequent deals($5 gift card on $20 in various categories etc) and the fact that you can get 5% off all the time with a simple Target debit card, it’s not bad. Walmart is better obviously if you just want to swipe a 2% CC and not pay attention to prices.

March 26, 2025 11:51

I don’t mean to imply that it’s a bad way to do it either. It’s just not interesting to me when I can purchase Wmt GCs at 14-18% off(might be coming to an end). I buy $500 open loop GCs (depends on where I am, preferably gas stations on the first $10k). Then recycle whatever I’m not using for estimated tax payments or insurance into discounted purchases of closed loop cards plus all purchases that I have no better way of doing. I’m not a MSer so I have a cap on what I can use. Still manage to discount total spending by about 22% a year so it works. SYW card is great though. Currently running the 100/1k-200/2k all year grocery, gas restaurant bonus, 15% up to $175 home improvement for 3 months, 250,000 on $1k online spend and $50 on 6 purchases over $75 for 3 months. It’s terrific for sure. Given how Citi nuked the My Deals program, fear it may be in the firing line for cuts as well.

Twobitplayer
Twobitplayer (@guest_2031667)
March 26, 2025 12:10

I wrote a long reply that somehow got flagged as spam when I edited a word but essentially use that particular SYW bonus for open loop $500 GCs, particularly from gas stations if possible on the first $10k at least. Walmart is fine, but I can typically buy Walmart cards at better than 10% off so it’s not as appealing as transforming other spend into a 10% minimum. Be that estimated taxes, insurance, discounted closed loop cards(it’s one way I get Target gift cards), etc. while obviously running through portals on the end spend wherever possible. Currently running the annual 10% grocery/gas/restaurant bonus, 3 month 15% home improvement bonus, one month 250k on $1k online spend bonus and 3 month $50 back on 6 $75+ bonus. Fear that Citi will nuke it like they did “My Deals” but for now it’s great.

Twobitplayer
Twobitplayer (@guest_2031693)
March 26, 2025 12:44

Visa or Mastercard gift cards. Sure you pay an activation fee but it’s usually about 1.4%. Granted, given that payUSAtax is gone it limits the estimated plus form 4868 aspect this year. But these are debit cards which result in a fee of .45% or so evening out the cost when liquidated that way. It’s admittedly a limited channel now, particularly if you use it as well for other sign up bonuses. The gas station side is a little harder depending on where you are. And a little sketchier sometimes. Not always worth the extra 2%. Pepper has been flooding their big spenders with insane discounts on Walmart/Sam’s Club which has been resulting in the secondary market pricing large discounts. For a couple months now on GCX(formerly Raise) you could buy Walmart at 16-18% off. Still can at 13%+. There are lots of genius manufactured spenders on here that have undoubtedly made huge gains off it all. I’m just a small spender trying to discount my total spend as much as possible.

First of all, some people, including me, have a Target store very near them, while my closest Walmart is many dozens of miles away. So it’s not necessarily worth driving all that way just to save a little bit on one item.

Having said that, Target has higher prices than local grocery stores on some food items most of the time, but tends to run sales at different times and sometimes to greater degrees on some items than local grocery stores.

So for example, Amy’s frozen dinners are usually less at my local Kroger brand store Ralphs and at Whole Foods, but sometimes Target has run sales on them at 2 for $10, which is less than even most of the sale prices at Ralphs and Whole Foods.

So if you just wait for sales for any food that you can keep for a long time, either in kitchen cabinet or in the freezer, you may be able to save at Target by only buying food when it’s on sale at Target.

Whenever I buy clothing and other household items in-store, I also save them to the cart on my target app. This way I always get notifications if the price drops sometime soon after purchase.

@Gd thank you for the tip! To clarify your last paragraph, after you buy something at Target in-store, you then save it to your cart in the app? But then if you buy something separate from Target online, you delete all those in-store items from your cart so you don’t buy them again since your on-line cart and in-store cart are the same? (assuming the price of your in-store items didn’t go down).

Thank you for the additional clarification!

Gd
Gd (@guest_2031634)

So when I’m buying something separate online later, I move all other unneeded items in the cart to ‘Save for later’ temporarily. If they’re big ticket items, I’ll move those items back to the cart after checking out.

Seems like target does send you notifications when your ‘saved’ items go on sale as well. But having items in cart seems like an easy way to keep an eye on prices for items you care about. Hope this clarifies.
