The Offer

- American Express is offering some SPG personal cardholders spending bonuses. Seems like different people have different offers, some offers include:
- Earn 7,500 points after each $10,000 you spend, up to a limit of 15,000 points
- Earn 3,000 points after each $3,000 you spend, up to a limit of 6,000 points
- Earn 2,000 points after each $1,500 you spend, up to a limit of 4,000 points
The Fine Print
- Must register by April 5th, 2018
- Spend must be completed by June 10th, 2018
Our Verdict
Seems like most of the offers are an extra 1x points per $1 spent, but you have to hit the spending requirements. That makes this a 2x everywhere card for the duration (again assuming you meet the spend requirements). Typically people seem to get these offers when their annual fee is due, so make sure you take that into account when deciding to complete this offer. It might make more sense to just cancel the card as planned (if indeed that was your planned). Even if you do get this offer, it’s always worth calling retention when the annual fee does come due as well.
