The Fine Print
- Activate & earn double rewards (up to $100) on Office Supply, Electronics and Discount store retailer purchases through September 1, 2020.
- To be eligible, you first must activate this offer.
- Once activated, you will earn double the value of your Cash Rewards, up to $100 in additional Cash Rewards, when you use your account to make purchase transactions (exclusive of any fees, returns and adjustments) from the date you activate the offer through September 1, 2020.
- This offer is valid only on purchases made at office supply, electronics and discount store retailers.
- This offer is only valid on the account identified within this communication and is non-transferrable.
- Allow up to 12 weeks after the promotion ends for the promotional Cash Rewards to be added to your Rewards balance. The value of this reward may constitute taxable income to you. Reader D. got this email today; not sure how widely it was sent out. Readers note that a similar email was sent out to people who were NOT targeted, similar words but without mention of the $100 bonus. Make sure you got the bonus offer before altering your spend patterns.
The Cash Rewards card earns 2% back at grocery and wholesale clubs and 3% back on your choice from 6 categories. If you can manage to do spend within the 2% or 3% categories and have that doubled, it can be a nice offer. For example, if you choose Online Retailers as your 3% category, and you make purchases at walmart.com or target.com or bestbuy.com or staples.com – that should get you 6% cashback (3% base + 3% bonus). Since your 3% can already be 5.25% for those with status, it’ll end up being 8.25% back.
