The Offer

Bank of America is sending many people an email offer:

No application or credit check necessary.

Our Verdict

A lot of people have a number of these 3/2/1 cards sitting around – assuming you aren’t using them this is one of the easiest $200 you can make. Well worth considering even if you do use the card some.

We wrote about the new Unlimited Cash Rewards card in a separate post; just wanted to highlight this signup offer separately so people don’t miss it.

Did the bonus post for anyone?

I just logged into the app and it prompted me to product change one of my Customized Cash Rewards. Not sure which one though. One of my Customized Cash Rewards is getting the +2% bonus through end of the year, so I closed out of the offer before accepting. However, now I can’t find it again. I wonder if they’ll send another round of emails out. This is the first time I’ve received this offer.

So can we keep using our old customized cash card until we get the new card. My BofA online says unlimited cash with the same last four digits of my customize cash?

Was wondering this too. Recently PCed from custom cash to cash rewards. same last 4 digits. am I good to spend the $1000 for the $200 PC bonus”?

Why would BoA product change without your consent? Do they want to get #MeToo?

I applied from my CC online in the product section and was immediately approved for a 26K limit. I can’t see much use for this card besides the bonus, but I’ll take the easy $200 and keep it in my drawer.

They sent us a spate of the $200 offers for switching from one hardly used card to another – for just a $1000 spend – easy money! Send a few more B of A!

Spent $1000. Mostly Costco, 100% rebate Top Cashback. $200 pending. Time to milk other banks.

they switched me to a vanilla 321 card from the “ABA” card without notification.

they’d formally notified me before swapping the “MLB” card with vanilla 321.

Did you receive the bonus offer at least even if it was a switch without notification?

no. they simply mailed me a new card. nothing changed besides the removal of ABA branding.

Got the email about 3 weeks ago for my travel rewards card (pc from Alaska about 7months ago) , was surprised that just clicking the link in the email initiated the change. No logging in, no confirmation page, the link just went straight to the page telling me the change was done.

Spend on the old card counts toward the 1k msr but not until the new account type is reflected in your online banking.. Which took about 2 weeks in my case.

We just pc’d p2 from Alaska to travel rewards last week to avoid AF. Hope we see this offer on that one too although the change is petty fresh there so I’ll be surprised

Hello, I submitted this conversion a week ago and new product is not reflected yet online or did not receive new card. if I use the card now for $1000 will I be eligible to receive $200? Just to confirm your comment is that what happened to you.

It won’t affect your eligibility but I don’t think spend on the card will count toward the 1k msr until the new card type is reflected online.

I believe you can see what date it switched by going to Statements and Documents. In there you should have documents such as “rewards program rules” and “cardholder benefits” that arrived on the day of the change over.

got this every 2-3 months and kept throwing it away, for some reason it went through…. maybe i misclicked on something on boa’s website? not a bad deal tbh.
original card from 2018ish was a boa americard or something. it had 1% cashback, 0% apr for 16 months, and 0$ fee balance transfers. It was also one of the rare cards that I was able to balance transfer my loans onto.

I had combined that card with the old chase slate (14mo 0% apr, 0$ bal xfer) and moved most of my credit limit with chase onto the slate card.
bal xfer loans -> BOA americard -> bal xfer onto chase slate
repeated until i maxed them out with about 20k worth of student debt and then arbitraged the 20k into bank acct bonus or something (cant remember now). Ended up saving over 2k in compounding interest from paying my student loans early, let alone the $ i made from churning bank accounts. also got an above the line tax deduction for the student loan payments.

after free APR expired i paid the cards off in full and it sat on my shelve for the last 3 years until this offer/forced product change. not sure how to increase my spends so ill probably just pay rent with a CC and take the 3% penalty

Same thing happened to me, but instead it was a Customized Cash Rewards that is more beneficial to me.

I ended up calling Bank of America and they PC’d it back to the Cash Rewards. The representative noted that it seemed like a weird system glitch, where a “a product Change Ticket” was initiated after so many rejections even though I did not consent to the change.
