[Targeted Offer] Bank of America: Product Change With No Credit Pull & Get $200 Bonus

Update 2/18/22: Email offers going out now for some people with this upgrade offer. Hat tip to vaudevillevik

Update 11/18/21: Another physical round went out for upgrading, these were sent out for both the personal Unlimited Cash Rewards card and the Business Unlimited Cash Rewards card.

Update 8/20/21: A physical mailer is going out to some people with this offer as well. (Previously there was an email round that went out.) Hat tip to reader XenaWP

The Offer

Bank of America is sending many people an email offer:

No application or credit check necessary.

Our Verdict

A lot of people have a number of these 3/2/1 cards sitting around – assuming you aren’t using them this is one of the easiest $200 you can make. Well worth considering even if you do use the card some.

We wrote about the new Unlimited Cash Rewards card in a separate post; just wanted to highlight this signup offer separately so people don’t miss it.

Bonus posted. Interestingly, it says “BONUS: Unlimited Cash Rewards Product Change Earn 200CBB *per* 1k retail spend w in 90days”
Note the “per”. I wonder if that means you can get it multiple times.

My wife and I have 4 cards that got the product change but only 2 of the cards had the offer in the envelopes. Has anyone tried spending $1000 without receiving the targeted mail to see if it still worked?

Can I start spending on the new card if my online account shows the converted “Unlimited Cash Rewards” however I haven’t received the physical card in the mail yet? Or do I have to wait for the physical card in mail to start spending?

Also will the converted card share the same expiration date, cvv and card number as the original card before conversion?

You can start spending now even with your old card. The new one will be identical except for the picture.

I received this offer in Nov 2021 and converted to the card on 12/31/2021, with conversion officially on 1/11/2022, according to rep. The email says $1000 in purchases must post by 3/1/2022. I haven’t made the purchases yet so I called in to close the card but the agent said it should be 90 days within switching, which would be 90 days after 1/11/2022. Who is correct?

What does the current promotional switch email say regarding when purchases need to be made by? Can someone share a screenshot if the specific terms?

I saw @Yay said their email said purchases must be made by June 1 for them, similar to how my email was worded?

Can I still spend the $1000 within 90 days of the switch on 1/11/2022 or is the email terms stating purchases must be posted by 3/1/2022 the real deadline?

I decided to call again and this rep stated it ended 3/1/2022 just like the email states. Everyone says different things. But I guess what the email says is pretty official right?

So I got my card converted a few days ago, and spent $600 on it – only to realize that maybe I have to wait the “3~4weeks” until my card comes in the mail. I checked my online account and my 1-2-3 card has NOT been converted yet 🙁 This means I need to spend a fresh $1k when I get it in my mail right?

Yay The offer said you will get the bonus ‘after you spend at least $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days of receiving your new card’. Looks like your $600 would not count.

I see… I looked all over my letter and mine has no mention of “90 days” but rather the spend $1k “by June 1st”. But the typical note about the card coming in 3-4 weeks ugh. I’ll spend another 1k to be safe – thank you for your input

Do you have a screenshot of the terms stating 90 days specifically?

My email for this offer in 11/2021 just said purchases must post by 3/1/2022 for me. I made the switch on 12/31/2021, which was the deadline to make the switch, and rep confirmed conversion officially took place on 1/11/2022. When I called to close card since I thought my offer passed due to the terms in the email, the agent said it should be 90 days within the conversion date 1/11/2022. So i don’t know if I can trust the rep and expect my bonus to automatically appear or will require a struggle with customer service to get it applied if I were to trust the rep.

This offer would be perfect for me since I have four Customized Cash cards, one of which is sock drawered, and way too many hard inquiries. So naturally I haven’t gotten it. Meanwhile my partner, who has one Customized Cash card and no interest in churning, got the offer, scoffed and deleted it.

Yes, they had sent this offer last week so I jumped on it.
Conversion may take two to four weeks tho.

Same here. The product I had was so old, they finally forced me into the Unlimited 1.5 card. I was okay with that, and have only maintained my BofA card all these years as it is my oldest and highest limit card. I’m NOT a fan of BofA, but I consider the card essential, and have really only used it once per year to keep it alive. After getting the Unlimited card, I learned about the Customized card, which I applied for and got, as well. I more than happy to earn the bonuses from both of these, and let them settle back to their mostly dormant state. The Customized is the one I find more valuable, and it may actually get a little more frequent use. BTW, when I was approved for the second card, they DID split my 25K limit between the two cards. I’m no spring chicken, but far from ancient….still find it almost hard to believe I’ve had a BofA card for 40 years, at this point.

Anybody got a link to share? Unfortunately I got a physical mailer sent to the wrong address and it was expired when I finally got my hands on it.

They are unique and tied to your account. But, since you didn’t take the offer, they’ll probably try again in a couple months.
