Our Verdict

I discovered this accidentally and only wrote it up out of curiosity; this offer is actually pretty similar to an offer from mid-2014, but is more in line with modern signup offers on the card (such as the $3,000 spend requirement). It mostly passes the smell test of a modern offer, including a well-rendered font. On the other hand, it does only say “over 4,000 Marriott locations, including our exclusive luxury hotel partner, The Ritz-Carlton” for the 5x category instead of “over 5,700”, and the 5x category doesn’t mention SPG. I’m not targeted, so I can’t say if it actually will work (in fact, I get this very weird offer [companion post]!).

The standard offer is 87,500 points for $3,000 in spend, with no annual fee waiver. Counting the annual fee waiver, this signup bonus is $235 + 45,000 points for $3,000 in spend, so this offer is only worth it if you value Marriott points at around 0.55 ¢ / point, or less. If that’s the case, there’s no reason to fill a 5/24 slot with the Marriott Premier Rewards card at all.

Definitely skip this one, but I’d still love to know if this actually works for anyone or pops up another interesting offer—whether modern or from the depths of time. If you have any success, please drop a comment below!

If you’re considering applying for the standard offer on this card, you’ll definitely want to review the things everybody should know about Chase credit cards first.

  • It's working for me but I am not sure if I want to "waste" a Chase slot under 5/24 for this card.

  • Can't make it to work but if it does, it's pretty much equivalent to the 80k offer with the annual fee not waived. Hmmm

Also, on your 5/24 article the Premier Personal is under 5/24 and the Business is not. Are both of them not 5/24?

    • That's accurate, though there've been some rumors that the Marriott Business may have moved under 5/24 recently. (I haven't seen any substantial proof, though). It's a very odd dichotomy.
