[Expired] [Targeted] Use U.S. Bank FlexPerks Card & Get 2,000 Points

This deal has expired, but there is a new offer here.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • U.S. Bank is offering a bonus of 2,000 FlexPerks points when you use your card for $500 in eligible net purchases from September 1st until October 31st, 2017. Others are seeing same offer with different spend requirements (e.g $750 in spend)

The Fine Print

  • Must register
  • Valid on purchases from September 1st until October 31st, 2017

Our Verdict

FlexPerks points are worth up to 2¢ (although this will be reduced to 1.5¢ on January 1st, 2018). Basically an extra 4x points per $1 spent, definitely worth doing if you’re targeted and can hit the $500 spend requirement.

Looks like I just got credited my 2k points from this promo that ended Oct 31st. Points history says 1/9/2018 Bonus Points, description Bonus.

Terms stated “Bonus FlexPoints will be awarded 8-10 weeks after the promotion ends”. I guess they meant it – how cute of them to wait so long, after the devaluation. Should have another 2K coming in March for promo that ended Dec 31st.

I forgot about the RAT shutdowns reported back in May and bought a $500 VGC at a Stop & Shop to knock out part of this $750 challenge while getting a 4x gas points deal. Should I expect to get shut down imminently? I’m sitting on a lot of points–and unfortunately might be sitting on SWA a lot now.

I always try to spend my Flexperks quickly because US Bank has become very unpredictable with gift card purchases. US Bank will shut down cards on a whim and they are unforgiving. You will loose all your Flexperks without warning.

YMMV…….some accounts are shutdown and others stay untouched. The Altitude cards have been hit the hardest.

Let us know how it works out.

Got the 2K for $500 spend offer. AF is about to post soon, and debating what to do with this card.

A good option is to do a product change to the US Bank Cash+ Visa no annual fee card. Your unused Flexperks will appear as a statement credit on the new Cash+ and you will also receive a $20 product change bonus. Better than nothing.

I got the 2000 pts offer for $500 spend. Coincidentally I was just charged my $49 AF. Had been planning to PC this card to a Cash+ (if they’ll still let me), but with this offer, I’ll get $45 in Altitude points ($500 x $0.02 = $10, plus the $20 in bonus points x 1.5 multiplier for Altitude Reserve points redemption in airfare.

Since I’m about to fly Southwest next week on the free flights I booked with my FlexPoints, and I’m going to hopefully purchase a couple of SW gift cards on the day of travel to get the $25 per ticket reimbursement.

Guess I’m keeping the FlexPerks card another year.

“free flights booked with my FlexPoints, and I’m going to hopefully purchase a couple of SW gift cards on the day of travel to get the $25 per ticket reimbursement.”

Never knew about these deals…. Can you share:
– How to book SW flights with Flexpoints?
– Can only buy SW GC on day of travel?
– How does $25 per ticket reimbursement work?

Spent a lot on my card — fee just posted and I used the 3500 points to get rid of it (they’ll be worth $52.50 in travel soon so would rather just save the $49 cash). Didn’t get an offer. Oh well.

Got email today from them with 2k after $1k spend. Are they sensitive to MS now?

Curious about this as well. Got 2k for $500 spend and am sitting at just under 40k after the Olympic promo from last year. Was going to pick up one VGC to get me over 40k and cash out to Alaska GC’s, hopefully before paying the AF. Any DP’s on if USB will waive AF’s?

No retention offers for me as of last week, except that I could use 3,500 of my points to pay the AF. yeah, right, nice offer. Cashed out my 40K (mostly from the Olympics promo) for $400 and closed account.

Also asked 2 reps and a supervisor about product changing. (Wanted to get a second Cash+). No option to product change to any other card.

Was there some sort of trick to get Alaska GC? Or are you talking about banking the cancelled ticket price, which I believe would need to be used within one year.

Yes, that’s what I’m referring to. Called Alaska and confirmed the credit would have to be used (flown) by the date of travel. So, I book a ticket for as far out as I can on Alaska’s schedule (July 2018), wait 24 hours, then refund to Alaska credits. I must complete travel by July 2018 for those gift dollars.

May do a mix of Alaska, cash, and Southwest credits. Or I pay the AF and redeem at 1.5x like the UR portal. That doesn’t seem as appealing to me! But I would get the 2,500 bonus points.

1k points for $3.5k spend. Terrible. Not worth it at all.
