TopCashback sent me an email about the offer.
I made a purchase on Walmart.com Friday night for a in-store pickup.

The purchase shows up in my TopCashback account, but it says 14 weeks to pay out $0.43 but nothing about the $3.

They’re probably counting me forgetting about this in 14 weeks. LOL.

Just placed an order on Walmart.com last night! I wasnt aware of this bonus and used ebates instead. Order is past the allowed time for cancellation.

Will GC purchase trigger this bonus ? Say I buy amazon $10 GC on amazon and Walmart $10 GC on Walmart.com?

Ron It has to be something that generates cash back on TCB. Neither one of those will because of exclusions. But you can buy some GCs on Raise to do this, as long as your payment is $20 or more.

If I am buying something on amazon.com does it have to be in one of the cashback categories on topcashback to earn the $3 bonus cashback or any purchase is eligible for the bonus even if it doesn’t fall into one of the regular cashback categories? It is my understanding topcashback offers cashback only in some specific categories on Amazon.com

It has to fall into one of the cash back categories.

Promos from TCB like this work best (most times) with ebay or Amazon, ebay being the better chance. The majority of my ebay orders have always come through.
The two are notorious for low payouts but promos such as these help. This came in time for an Oral-B electric toothbrush.

If you live in one of the states that allows you to cash out gift cards, the easiest way to take advantage of this offer is to buy a few small gift cards on Raise, and then cash them out. Make sure your payment is over $20 because that is the minimum purchase amount for Raise cash back.

Oooh, dirty, I like it.

EDIT: I looked, and only saw $5 and $10 GC’s. My state allows cashing in of GC’s _under_ $10, so $5 would be the only choice. x4 = too much work for $3. But love the creativity.

veeRob Thank you, thank you! [Bow]

$5 Starbucks x 4 is actually very painless if you go there regularly. Starbucks cashiers are trained on the gift card refund law, so there is never an issue. (More than I can say for certain other stores, unfortunately.) Stopped by my local Starbucks today (3 min from my house) and the whole process took all of 30 seconds.

I may or may not be cashing out hundreds of dollars from Starbucks already in this way LOL

I was just talking about doing this last night for some credit card spend. Do you purchase any cards in-stores (I’m thinking 2-5x category stores), or all online? How often are you cashing out the cards? I am sitting on a six month supply of gift cards for my regular shopping purposes from all of the holiday promotions, but it would be nice to recoup some of that $$, as well as hit some spending thresholds for Q1. Thanks for the suggestion!!

Katie Hernandez It doesn’t really matter where you buy the cards, as long as they are under the cash out limit for your state (for example, under $10 in California). That being said, it is rare that stores will sell cards that small in-store, so I usually buy them on the exchanges.

The key issue is how well trained the cashiers are at the store where you want to cash out, because this can become a hassle. Starbucks and most supermarkets are painless; AMC has a two card per day policy even though that directly contradicts state law; at Shell, the manager threatened to call the police when I tried to cash out the card, even though there was a sign on the door stating outlining customer rights under the gift card law. So YMMV.

Do you use e-gift cards, or only physical? I see TONS of digital cards, but not many physical ones. Would I just take a half dozen printed out $5 starbucks cards to the register? I feel like that would look weird?

Katie Hernandez I use the e-gift card printouts. Works fine. Never had an issue at Starbucks.

I want to offer a caveat: TopCashBack may or may not pay. I recommend not fully trusting their seemingly-always top rates. They can do that because they deny many click-thrus.

Agree with this. I signed up for TCB for a $25 referral credit that DOC posted a while back. That was like 9 months ago and still haven’t reached the minimum to cash out the bonus because it seems like whenever I click through TCB the $ never posts, but ebates/rakuten is very consistent.

Haven’t had a click-thru not track yet. It may take awhile to get confirmed for payable, but seems to work for me if you take proper precaustions using incognito. Been a member for about a year and got just over 1k in cash back. Half of it was on 1 purchase at 27% back from Dell.

The biggest difference I noticed is having uBlock turned on. Whenever I pause uBlock, the transaction goes through within an hour.

Agree. I’ve had other portals fail to track on occasion; the difference is, when you submit a claim to Ebates, Swagbucks, or Giving Assistant, and have proof, they’ll issue a good faith credit. Topcashback doesn’t in my experience and will just deny your claim and blame the merchant or say that you must have had interference from another marketing channel even when you know that is not possible (and I’ve been burned by them more than once….no more).

+1. Same experience

Nick
Nick (@guest_726492)
February 24, 2019 04:33

Exact same experiences here:

1. Seemingly top rates to lure you in
2. High chance of not actually track the transaction, track an incorrect (much lower or $0) amount, or deny transactions
3. “customer service” couldn’t care less and simply paste canned responses along the lines of “why don’t you wait for another 6 to 8 months before bothering us? (or better yet, just forget about it;))”

No offense but I would gladly ‘donate’ to DOC if that is what’s needed to keep this unbiased source of info running without resorting to this kind of posts(bet many readers share the same appreciation&willingness to help).

We don’t get anything from these sorts of posts. In my experience TCB tracks better than Ebates. Others disagree and that’s fine, but it seems at least some people are using things like uBlock and then being surprised when the portal doesn’t track properly.
