Hi Avi,

Changes in the marketplace and customer preferences influence the services we provide. With this in mind, we have decided to discontinue the Automated Investor service.

We understand that change can be difficult, so we are here to help. Please review the transition timeline and resources below to help you determine the best path forward for meeting your investment goals.
Your transition details:
Now

No action is required. You can continue to access your account(s) at [REDACT] or the U.S. Bank mobile app. You can end this service earlier by calling the number below.[REDACT] about the transition.
September

We’ll send you an email reminding you of the upcoming conversion.Accounts with zero balances will automatically be closed, and accounts not in good order will be converted to Self-directed brokerage on Sept.15 per our [REDACT].Late October

The Automated Investor service ends Oct. 28.Affected accounts will begin to convert to [REDACT] on Oct. 29 and should be complete by Oct. 30.1Account numbers will remain the same. After your account converts, existing investments will be held in your brokerage account awaiting your investment instructions.”First the Smartly card, and now this! Unacceptable for a bank this large to be shutting down entire products so soon after launch!!!

P1-P3 applied for this account when the bonus was active. We were all declined for the account. It shouldn’t have mattered what portfolio we selected (conservative). Our Chex counts are probably lol/24, but I thought that brokerage accounts wouldn’t be subject to Chexsystems sensitivity. We are all U.S. Bank customers in that we all have credit cards with them. Are there any other reasons why we would have been declined for the accounts?

We have all been able to churn their personal checking bonus every 2 years without issue so I don’t think we’re blacklisted or anything. We’ve all been denied online for business checking accounts as of late though, so I don’t know if that has anything to do with this or not. All in footprint with plenty of local branches around as well (So Cal). Would calling in have been an option to open the account for the bonus instead of online?

Predictably, they didn’t let me close via email and had me call in. The rep seemed to think an internal transfer of the funds would be possible once everything was sold, if that’s helpful to anyone. The other option was getting a check in the mail. Call was pretty painless, didn’t ask for a reason for closing.

Do they charge a fee if you close or transfer out the account?

John I searched EVERYWHERE and couldn’t find a single item about ANY fees, fucking bastards. I wonder if FINRA & SIPC have any idea of these crooks.. I’ll have to report them.
