As we predicted previously, beginning today, June 20, all U.S. Bank Cash+ applicants who are approved will get the 5% categories, even those approved for the lower, non-Signature card.
If you do not qualify for the U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature® Card, you will automatically be considered for the U.S. Bank Cash+ Visa Platinum Card which has the same cash back on all net purchases as the Cash+ Visa Signature Card but does not offer the Visa Signature benefits.
When I checked on earlier on June 19, the terms were still showing that those who are not approved for the Signature card will not get the 5% and 2% categories. But now the new terms are showing, and all approved U.S. Bank Cash+ applicants get those categories.
Only difference between the cards now is whether you’ll get Signature benefits. Typically, this depends on whether you are approved for a $5,000 credit line or not as $5k is considered the base line for a Signature card.
We wrote a roundup of the U.S. Bank 5% categories in this post.
Haven’t got the replacement of new Fidelity from Elan financials yet, but just curious, is it possible to do a product change from new Fidelity 2% to this Cash+?
Good question. I’m guessing this is like a co-branded card which can not be product changed https://www.doctorofcredit.com/best-downgrade-options-rules-for-each-card-issuer-rules/#US_Bank
So what about existing cardholders that asked to change to the cash+ and just got regular card without the categories
Existing cardholders might not get the categories yet. For now, this change is for new cardholders.
