US Bank has announced that they have taken over the AAA card portfolio from Bank of America who used to issue and manage these cards (US Bank has also purchased the $500 million back book from existing cardholders). There are two cards that they will be issued that have the following reward structures:
US Bank AAA Dollars Plus
- Cardholders can earn 3 percent on qualifying net AAA purchases and travel, 2 percent on qualifying net gas, grocery and drug store purchases, and 1 percent on qualifying net purchases everywhere else.
- The card has no annual fee, and no foreign transaction fees will be charged on purchases abroad
US Bank AAA Dollars
- This attractively priced card currently offers a low introductory APR, while having a competitive go-to rate.
- The cardholder earns 1 percent rewards on all qualifying net purchases.
- The card has no annual fee
Our Verdict
These cards aren’t attractive at all from an earning, redeeming or sign up bonus perspective, so the change of issuer doesn’t really make any difference. When Bank of America issued the cards they could’ve been slightly useful due to the preferred rewards program, but that is now no longer the case.
I’m still waiting to see if US Bank will even accept my previous comment. What is it US Bank, you don’t like the truth customers want posted? One more reason I HATE US Bank.
I HATE that US Bank took over for my Bank Of America AAA credit card. The online site is not user friendly, the cards looks like a ghetto piece of crap. I have a really nice credit line of over $27,000.00, one would think I would have at least a half way attractive looking credit card. My credit card with Bank of America is a beautiful, rich looking card that makes me proud to carry, or pull out of my wallet. I was never given a choice of credit card examples to pick from. My understanding is everyone received the same ugly ghetto looking credit card no matter what their credit line. I was never given a choice if I wanted to go over to US Bank or stay with Bank If America, where I have been a customer for nearly 30 years. I HATE US Bank, and if it wasn’t for the fact that this is one of my credit cards that has a really good line of credit, I would shred this piece of crap and never look back.
I never get any communication as to whether or not my payments have been received, I have to sign in to my bank to check if my payments have cleared.
This company needs to get with the times, and send alerts for what customers want alerts for, and PLEASE give customers a choice of what they would like their credit cards to look, since we never got the choice to move to this pathetic piece of crap bank. Maybe your first clue should have been, if I don’t have an account with US Bank, perhaps it’s because I never wanted to work with US Bank to begin with. Anymore more it seems as if Americans are being told what they HAVE to do and. not giving us the freedom of choice to make our own decisions.
I HATE US BANK!!!!
I would never do business with the US bank anymore since they took over AAA. The have terrorized me over two transaction from Bank of America which used to have this AAA card. I never had problems with Bank of America and still have another account with them. But since the US BANK took over, within two months I have had nothing but trouble with them. I had my Bank of America AAA card since 1995. This bank is totally incompetent to do business with and in my book will probably fail. Biggest mistake ever AAA.
I just discovered they have changed to US Bank when trying to log in. have auto withdraw with AAA and I called US Bank to see if this payment went thru and they couldn’t tell me.. so I guess I will get fees.. I can’t even log on to see because I don’t have the new card from US bank… I probably threw it out thinking it was junk mail…
Is this actually happening?
Its more than a year now but I can still see that the application link is active

Agree with Sandra. How ridiculous is this!! I didn’t even know about the switch. I have something on automatic payment through my AAA Visa card with BOA and the shipment is now delayed because of this. My AAA Visa was tied into my BOA online banking and now that account is gone! It just disappeared from my accounts on BOA. I tried to call the customer service number for US Bank and it is always busy. This is BS!
I just hate this! I have automatic payments thru my BOA Visa card and now everything has to be changed. Screw US Bank, which was set up by AAA, and screw AAA when my policy runs out in October. Any mail I got telling me about this switch-a-roo came from US Bank, and I didn’t even open it! To hell with them, I hope they all float in shit!
I believe only some region of AAA will switch. Check https://www.twst.com/update/u-s-bancorp-u-s-bank-and-auto-club-trust-fsb-partner-to-launch-credit-card-rewards-program-featuring-the-aaa-dollars-plus-mastercard-and-aaa-dollars-mastercard/
Any word on what will happen with the current BoA cards? I have the card, and with the Preferred Rewards program get 3.75% back on travel purchases, which is as good as you can get for cash back on travel purchases, I believe. I’d hate to lose it, and probably don’t want to switch to the US Bank card.
this card was eligible for the up to 75% bonus but had a variation on how it was applied
